i put them down for their morning nap at the first signs of whining/eye rubbing. marina whined for about 5 minutes, and ivana my drama mama hardly made a peep and they're both asleep!!!! OMG! i don't know how long they'll sleep for, but i don't care, cuz they now know that when mommy puts them in the crib, it means time to sleep! yay!
for those of you that are afraid to do CIO: it totally works, and it's really not bad at all! and you'll start to have your life back! i can actually get stuff done without having to tiptoe around bouncy seats! i'm just ecstatic right now
quick question though: the way we do it is... play, eat, nap... should i be doing eat, play, nap instead? does it really matter? i'm justgoing based on their last feeding of the night, which they usually fall asleep by the time they're completely done eating.

anyway, just wanted to share my accomplishments!

ETA: i didn't really plan on doing CIO with them... i just couldn't take it anymore and decided right then and there that they were gonna have to learn to take naps IN THEIR CRIBS at designated times

Eat/play/nap, Nap/play/eat, eat/eat/eat, nap/play/play....you get the point! I don't think at this age it really matters if what you are doing is working. It's merely a guide for people trying to get a schedule or routine. But you should go with what works for YOU!

    Great work on the sleeping!

I would agree, doesn't matter what order you do it in (or if it is different before each nap time) as long as your mini nap routine is the same. We just do a mini rock in a quiet room, hand them each their bear, and then lay them in their cribs...those same ques at all times signal nap time, not what happens before it. GREAT JOB MOMMY! Isn't it so great when you can actually see it working?!?!

I always did eat, play, nap with the only exception being right before bed. The main reason for this (they say) is so that they don't build an association with eating and sleeping, that they always need a bottle/nurse before going to sleep. But I found it really didn't make a difference with mine as they NEVER fell asleep while nursing, but if yours do then it may be something to consider, if not then do whatever works!!!!

Yeah for routine.....so nice for mommy and babies!!!

I remember thinking around that age that my babies were the only ones who wanted to play, eat, sleep. I felt like I was doing it wrong because everyone else seemed to do the opposite. As they got older they naturally fell into a eat play sleep cycle. Just listen to the babies and follow their needs. I bet that they switch it up as they get older.
