Day #2 of potty training Karina is not going well. Yesterday, she only had two accidents the whole day. Today she has had 4 accidents (3 pee, 1 poop) and it's only 9:30. There have been no successes in the potty today. She is also resistant when I try to get her to sit on the potty. Should I keep going? She had such a good day yesterday and was so proud of herself. I don't want her frustrated, but I hate to stop knowing how well she did yesterday.

I'd give it another day or maybe two, but if she's resisting, it's probably a sign she's not ready. Yesterday could have worked just because it was fun and new... (sorry to say). We tried to potty train my girls in July of last year but gave up because they would do great one day and then really resist the next day. I think we gave it a week and then quit. When we tried again in September, both girls trained within a week - and no resitence or frustration.

    Hang in there!

Have you tried setting the timer for every 30 minutes and taking her when the timer goes off?

My girls biggest issue, when they have accidents, is that they don't want to leave whatever it is they are doing to go potty. I have to remind them that their toys will be there when they get back, and I will make sure sister doesn't get them. I did this for a few days and it really helped get them to the point where they were going on their own.

Are you doing rewards? Do you have anything in the bathroom to hold their attention to get them to sit still?

    Good Luck!!

what were their signs of readiness?
mine would tell me right when they went in diaper or just before, so I put them on potty and they would go before going in diaper, or even a bit after already going in diaper.
after a couple days of that, I would ask them undies, naked or diaper? they would pick naked or diaper and I knew I am home for a couple hours, with nakedness, they were most aware of sensation and would go on potty, with undies, a bit more difficult.
over the course of a week, picked only undies and always went on potty.....I put 2 potties outside of bathroom and supporting ring on potty.

they picked whatever they wanted, a couple accidents and done in 1 week, at 2 years old, now they go on potty or big toilet even without ring, also out and about.

Liana was a bit more resistent and had more accidents, I would NOT go back to diapers once she was naked or undies for 4 days straight, also, we never did pull ups, I personally think it's too confusing for them (plus too much $$$), diaper, now pull up, undies ? waht's the difference for them?

I never did rewards for PT, they got always sooo excited when they went poop, the clapped and run to potty for each other to look, also they take the potty thing out and empty it in toilet and flush, that was a bit messy for a while but worth it, they felt more in charge that way.

Kaden now pees like daddy already :)

let me know if you have more detailled questions....
    GL!

Just curious if you are using underwear or pull-ups for potty training? When I started training my girls I put them in padded underwear and didn't go back. They did not like the feel of an accident in their underwear. I found that using underwear and plastic pants continually was key for my girls. They knew I wasn't going back to diapers. Just a thought for you...
