Please can you give me some advice for my daughter. She is 23weeks 5 days pregnant with twins and has a preventative shirodkar stitch. Up until her 20week cervical TVU she was 3.8mm but on her 23week TVU she was 2.6mm and funneling with pressure she went to the stitch and was 1.5mm. She also had a positive ffn test. Although they did say it could be a false positive. They took her straight in on bedrest bathroom only and she is using 400mg cyclogest suppository at night. Since Friday two days after being in hospital she has been having pink discharge on wiping, she has been told to now do the suppositories rectally. Does anyone have any ideas on the pink discharge she always spots after a TVU but normally just the same day which she did then there was nothing until late afternoon two days later when the pink discharge started. Do you think it could have been using the suppositories or could the mucous plug be dislodging if it is the mucous plug I think I have heard that it can regenerate or that labour doesnt have to be imminent. She is having the steroid injection on Monday 24weeks. Any advice would be welcome or similar stories.

I don't have any advice, just want to offer hugs and prayers!

Also, every time my cervix is checked (u/s or manually) they tell me that spotting can be normal for up to three days later.

I hope she can hang in there for a few more weeks if not longer!

Welcome and congratulations. What a frightening journey your daughter must be on (and you too I am sure). I measured 2.9 at my 24 week appt and was put on hospital bedrest. I did not have a stitch (I am assuming a shirodkar stitch is the same thing as a cerclage?). I too had a positive fFN test, but not until 28 weeks, and didn't deliver until 34w4d. If she had any kind of cervical examination 24 hours prior to her fFN test, then it is definitely possible to get a false positive.

The pink discharge can be normal, especially if she has been poked and prodded down there. It should ease up in a couple days most likely (mine lasted 2 days usually after any cervical exam).

I just wanted to give you some hope. Lots of women here have delivered successfully under similar circumstances. You all have a bit of a haul ahead of you. Good luck and keep us posted.

My daughter had her first steroid injection today and probably Wednesday she will be having another cervix check and the babies growth scan.

    Love Jan.
