I'm new to the 1-5 board - as you can see down there my girls just turned one!
We are currently on a month long vacation visiting family across the country (yes, we must be insane) so I haven't been able to log on here as much as I want to, but I need help with this one.

Isabel will wrap anything she sees around her neck. She's used a diaper, her pants, and one of her daddy's socks. I totally freaked out one time because we have this little caterpillar toy that the girls are supposed to pull around by a string - and she put that string all the way around her neck! I got so angry that I threw it away. What should I do? My family laughs and thinks that it's cute, but it really worries me. Am I overreacting? How can I get her to stop? She understands when I tell her "no" but it hasn't stopped her at all. Has anyone had any experience with this?

    Thanks for you help!

I'd put the string toys away for a while. They need to have short short strings for a while. Accidents turn tragic sometimes, I think you are ok in being a little worried!! :hug99:

Happy Birthday to the girls!! :birthday:

I have one son that did/does this. Not much you can do about the clothes aside from keeping a very close eye on here but I dont by toys that have stings of any kind on them at all or I cut them off... Usually I jus dont buy them...

I seen a movie a long time ago that a mom let her son take to be with him a horse that was pulled by a rope to bed with him one night and in the morning it was wrapped around his neck and sadly he had passed. Since I seen this movie Im fraked out about stuff like that.

I also check on my kids a million times a night to make sure they dont have their planket around their necks or something.....

I dont mean to scare you just telling you it scares me too!!!

No u are not being too cautious it can be very dangerous.

We have "one" main rule in our house and its "nothing around their neck" they know now. But my girls are nearly 4.

Just keep up saying "no" and hopefully she will start to realize.

    good luck to you

I'd tell my family in no uncertain terms NEVER to laugh at bad behavior, and especially not at dangerous behavior. I'm glad you posted this cause my girls don't do this now, but I'll keep an eye out for this behavior. Thanks!

Welcome to 1-5 and Happy Birthday girls!!

I also would stress to my family that they shouldn't laugh when she does this. You're right to be concerned it could be very dangerous. Mine did that with hangers for a while.
