I don't want them to have a real thing about getting their toenails cut so I put off cutting them. I need to do it really soon. Any good ideas for distracting them?

I sit on the floor with them, in between my legs (their backs against my tummy). I turn on a movie and go for it. My kids don't mind me doing it, but I also get lazy about do it.

I think my kids are not the norm and they actually ask me to cut their toenails. They get really excited when I ask them if they want to cut their nails. As I'm doing their hands they are constantly reminding me to do their toes. I have no advice to give you as my kids have never had issues with it, but I would think that distracting them with a book or a DVD might work well.

I'm so glad mine aren't the only ones  They fight over whose turn it is to have their nails trimmed. When they were littler and wiggly I used to wait until they were asleep and then I'd sneak in and do it.

Doing nails is not an issue for us, they sit and watch a movie and barely notice. But they HATE having their toes done for some reason. So I resort to doing it while they are asleep. I usually wait until they have been alseep for an hour and then go in and clip. If you can believe they have never woken up!

    Good luck!

I do it when they're in the high chair if I'm anticipating a problem. It helps to have a favored snack available while doing it, too.

Mine hate it, too - and I have no solution on how to get through it! Mine don't love having their nails done, either.... but it's no where near as bad as the TOES!!!

i have girls and they love getting a pedicure. I don't say cut your nails, I say trim. and I say pedicure. Cut has a bad connotation to them. They want the nail polish on, and so they have to be still to get nails cut to get the polish on. i have also done in in the high chair with a great snack. right after baths, watching a movie is great too. the nails are softer and eaiser to cut after being in the water.

My girls (22m) really hate having both finger and toe nails done, they really don't like their hands and feet held. I tried the whole doing it while they are sleeping, but even as babies they would wake and it just made it that much worse. They used to have really bad tantrums while I did it but have since started to be a little better, am hoping once there attention spans get better they won't mind?

    Good luck

My girls love to "get their nails done" too. Afterwards, they have to go show Daddy how pretty their hands are. :) Maybe it's because they see me file my nails on a regular basis.

Mine hate it, because they hate having their hands & feet immobilized. They are always trying to wrestle the clipper away from me. I've had the best success if I do it right after a nap (when they're still sleepy and calm), but even then, I sort of have to pin them down.
