DS has always been a restless baby but for the past couple of weeks he has been more tearful than normal and gets grumpy very quickly. He even cries when going down for naps as he´s overtired - after only an hour´s play - which he never did before! He´s always been a smiley and happy-go-lucky baby so Im wondering if something´s going on.

I think this "something" is teething. He has a couple of bottom front teeth which can´t decide whether to come through or not (the tips keep appearing and disappearing).

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you do, if anything?

I give him teething rings, rub Bonjela on his gums (which he enjoys) and give him lots of TLC. I guess we will have to ride it out. We´re seeing the pedi on Thursday (for jabs) so I can get her to give him a quick check. His appetite is fine so I don´t think he´s ill.

    Any feedback appreciated. TIA!

Sounds like my DS at 7 months, we used those little mesh thingys with frozen fruit inside and gave motrin on bad days. good luck to you :)

You could try giving him some Motrin. There have been a couple of days that I had to give my girls Motrin for teething, they were just so fussy and not themselves and it made them feel better. It's tough when you have to guess what is going on b/c they can't tell you.

 I would talk to the pedi just to make sure.

Thanks, girls. Can I ask what Motrin is? I live in Spain so am not familiar with US medication. :)

Motrin is also known as ibuprofin (not sure if I spelled that right). You can also try giving him frozen washcloths as something to chew on that might help him with teething pain. Teething is no fun

We like the teething tablets also. They seem to work well

I would also agree that giving him Motrin would help a lot.

We loved the teething tablets, too. Ours were late teethers to the point where they were old enough to open up and simply take the tablets themselves without any help from us. You put them in their mouth and they dissolve almost instantly. We also alternate Tylenol and Motrin on the really bad days (like when 4 teeth broke through the same day and he was absolutely miserable).

If you are going in for a typical visit the Dr. should also check his ears. We currently have an double ear infection with no signs other than general crankiness and being out of sorts.

If it is teething the rememdies folks have mentioned here (cold things to chew on, teething tablets, etc should help very quickly). If they seem to have no effect it may be something else. I would definately mention it to your Dr to have them rule out anything else.
