Crying hysterically...separation anxiety?

Hi, everyone! I just recently joined the 1-5 board. I already need help!

Last night my guys started crying hysterically about 45 minutes after we put them to bed. I was out of town on Wed. & Thurs., and although I saw them yesterday morning, I figured they were crying because I had been gone the 2 nights before. I went in last night and picked one of my sons up, and he was fine, but as soon as I put him down he'd get hysterical again. I finally had to just let him cry himself to sleep. They started crying again tonight after they'd been down about 45 minutes. They are generally really good about going to sleep and only cry when they are teething or have a bad dream/get scared by something. When this happens, we can go in and give teething tablets or soothe them for a minute, and they go right back to sleep. I went in again tonight to try and soothe them (but didn't pick them up), and they started crying even harder. Do you think this is still an effect of me being gone for 2 days, or is this what separation anxiety is, and I need to be prepared to go through this for a while? Should I go in at all, or do I need to just let them cry like I did when we first did CIO? I can tell it's not teething. They've been crying about 15 minutes.

    Thanks!

It might be that they miss you. When my kids are cranky like that I give them a dose of Tylenol and cuddle them for awhile.

I also just do a little cuddling. Seems to me that he had a bit of separation anxiety. Kev does that when he is feeling that way too (which is a lot).

The last month, my boys have been doing it on and off. They cry so hard and when I go in and pick them up, they stop immediately, and when I put them down, they often continue to cry. I think I started a bad habit. Last week, we let them CIO and we have had about a week of them not getting up. I am pretty sure it was separation anxiety for my boys.
