Why does this happen?? At about 7 every night we go up to bed. Each baby has their own bassinett next to our bed. We have tried feeding them once they are up there and have tried feeding them downstairs then taking them up and putting them in the bassinett. Every night around 7 until about 11 Aiden just cries, cries, criess...then in the morning they both do it around 6 am or so...I don't feel like I'm doing anything differently during the day or over night.. Is this just a baby thing?

One word...COLIC. Also known as baby system overload. Walking, swaddling, running the vacuum or other white noise, may help sometimes. It's usually worse at night, and right about the age yours are at. Hang in there! [IMG]

[IMG] Evenings are often called 'the witching hour.' It was when my two were the most fussy! They might have stimulation overload! Is the tv on? Is there perhaps too much activity? Try to stay in a relatively quiet place. It seems to be when my two were most hungry too! [IMG] It does get better! We survived and you will too! My dd would respond to walking, pacing the floor. Swaddling helps if you don't do it already! Hang in there!

Alison did the same thing from about 3 weeks old until almost 7 weeks. Then it just sort of stopped and she doesn't really do it anymore. A friend who read the 'Happiest Baby on the Block' book suggested swaddling her and placing her on her tummy on my lap and lightly jiggling and shushing her and it really worked for me. After that I would give her a paci and lay her down and she would go to sleep.
I really need to read that book...

Oh, I remember this horrible time. We called it cry cry time. It was so awful! For us, we finally figured out, we were waiting to late to put the babies to bed and actually moved their bedtime up to about 5:30 pm. YES, it worked FOR US. Your babies may be too young for this though. I'm sorry, I can't remember how old the girls were during this time. I try to forget some of that [IMG] Good luck and hang in there!

That's what I did with Sean. He would cry every night from when he was 6 weeks old until he was 3.5 months old. It really peaked around 3 months and I swore that boy would cry all day if I didn't jiggle him on my knee. Then he just stopped one day and hasn't cried like that until last night. We did go Christmas shopping yesterday, so I think he was a bit overloaded.

I read Weissbluth and he says it's normal between 6 and 10 pm that they are at their worst. He says the worse is usually over at 6 weeks of age (or 6 weeks after their original due date). Hang in there.
