So both my boys either cry or sometimes scream while getting this diaper changed. This vocal session normally starts the minute either DH or I undo the first velco thingy on the diaper and will continue till we pick them up when we're done. We use diaper rash cream on their little tushies and wipe them down every change...

Did you also have this happen? When does it stop?

Also they cry while getting bathed too... we have a water temp checker so we know it's not to warm or to cold.

My DH thinks they just don't like their clothes off or undone (hee hee are they just bashful? :) )

Mine are a lot younger but they do the same thing. I don't think they like to get cold!!! You know, cold wipes, cold air hitting them down there- and getting cold at bath time, even if the water is warm, I think they still feel the cold :)

I remember my son crying during bath time until about 2 months or so. He didn't do the crying with diaper change thing, so I am not sure when it will end!!!

My DS hated diaper changes until about 2 months. Now they both love baths and diaper changes, I think they like the diaper change b/c I always do it before they eat and they are old enough to know that once that diaper is changed, food is coming. In the beginning I would open up both new diapers first and take 2 wipes out of the container so that I could save those 5 seconds while doing the diaper change.

Hang in, it will get better. We don't use any kind of diaper rash ointment or anything, just a quick wipe and off we go (unless it's a poopy).

I also wonder if it's the cold. I would cry if you opened up my warm jammies and wiped me with a cold wipe! lol...poor babies. Mine did okay during diaper changes unless we startled them with the cold, so maybe that's all it is?

Mine do the same thing. My DD finally didn't cry during a bath last night. We're hoping she's growing out of it. I think they do this b/c they're cold.

My girls did that for a while. I tried to make as much eye contact I would talk, coo, sing to them, something like that to keep them interested. I had a little toy with a mirror specifically for over the changing table that they eventually got real interested in.

Mine always cried during diaper changes at that age. It's tough! When they're that young, sometimes they are just really sensitive, and no matter how warm it is and how gentle you are, they find it unsettling.

Believe it or not, though, I sometimes miss those days now, because I have to change two big, strong babies who are determined to wiggle and crawl right off the changing table!

When my girls were that little they hated diaper changes and baths too.. I'm sure it was because of the cold. I tried to keep them as wrapped as possible during diaper changed and sung to them while I was doing it (and I got really good and changing them really quickly!). For baths, I would keep them wrapped in a towel while in the bath (sink), and only expose the area I was washing to keep them as warm as possible. Now we have the opposite problem... my girls hate having clothes on!!! They get so excited when they get undressed for baths its just too funny!

Totally normal. Mine did the same thing until about 12 weeks old. They hated being naked. Now they love bath time and they love to be changed. They will actually stop crying now sometimes when I get them naked if they were alrerady crying.

Mine were the same - diaper changes got better around 9 weeks -- and baths about 11 weeks -- now there's no crying at diaper changes - and they LOVE their baths....
