My girls are 4 1/2 months and the doctor suggested the CIO method. Has this been effective at this age? I am trying it now but 15 minutes have passed and still one is crying. Thanks

you can do it...keep trying. We started CIO at around that time and we had great success with it. Both of my boys became champion sleepers. Naps were harder for me than at night and it took a few days for them to get it. The first day was the hardest, but by the third or fourth day they just laid down and went to sleep on their own. I'm glad we did it when we did because they have turned out to be great sleepers, even a year later they rarely fuss when we lay them down at night and I truly believe that CIO saved us from many of the sleep issues they could have had.

I'm glad it worked for you. The next few days will be tough, but it's worth it in the end. There will always be times where something will set one or the other of them off, but I learned quickly that being consistent with it has been the best thing for my boys.

Congrats for sticking with it. We did CIO shortly after ours turned 4 months and the first night they cried about 45 min. The second night it was shorter and the third night they didn't cry at all. Once they figured it out, we started putting them down awake after their nighttime feedings too. This helped a lot because even when they did wake to eat it was 20 minutes to feed, then down versus an hour each time to get them to fall back to sleep! It is so much better to nip the sleep problems in the bud now instead of waiting until they get older and it is much harder to teach them to sleep.

If your doctor verifies that they do not need to be eating as much, I think it's okay to start closer to 5 months, BUT some babies (like mine) need to eat more frequently. We waited until they were 6 months ADJUSTED and that was when the pedi said it was okay.

I would like to try CIO, but I don't know the steps. Our problem is is that the boys are in our room. We live with my IL's so we had to share a room. Anything that we can do? Or will it not work out for us? Thanks.
