    Hi,

I'm trying to get rid of this layer over my tummy. My tummy has always been flat and after the twins I can thankfully say that there are no stretch marks or twin skin but I do have a layer and a bump that wasn't there. I'm thinking of getting crazy with crunches. Has anyone seen success with just doing a bunch of crunches everyday? What are your other secrets?

hooray for no stretch marks or twin skin! your bbies are still little; my stomach didn't really subside til close to five months post partum. I don't think crunches will do it - although if you have time and energy for them right now, lucky you!

seriously, though: it took your body nearly nine months to stretch out; it will take some time for it to return to close to original condition.

I have heard that crunches don't really help, but what does help is to suck in your stomach -- really tightly -- all day, or as much as you can. This strenghtens those muscles more than crunches.....can't remember the reasoning, but I read it somewhere....

Mine is in such bad shape that nothing short of a tummy tuck will fix it. I never thought I'd even consider it, but dude, it's just horrifying!

Have you thought about doing some yoga or pilates exercises? We have a yoga for abs video that is far more excruciating than any number of crunches! And maybe more pain=more gain???

I was told by my doctor not to do crunches, but that might be because I have a hernia from the pg. I've started doing some yoga though and that strengthens your core (and is relaxing!). Ditto to pp, it took you 9 months (or however many you made it to with your kiddos) for your body to change, so you should probably expect at least that amount of time for it to go back.

I'm almost 8 month post-partum and my stomach is pretty much back to normal (except for the hernia)- no twin skin, no stretch marks. But its taken 8 months to get to this point. GL! -Leighann

ps: one thing I love to do with my kiddos (yours might be too little right now, but eventually you can do this)- lay on your back with your knees bent up to your chest. Put a kiddo on your legs and hold their body then rock. They love it because they are 'flying' and it stretches your back and may also be good for your core.

i seem to be carrying an extra layer too. i'm back to my pre-preggo weight and like you, no twin skin or stretch marks. but some of my old pants are tight around the waist and just kind of uncomfortable. the gym bores me to death, so i haven't been back consistently. i've been trying to stand up straigher and tighten my abs while pushing the girls around in the stroller. hopefully this will help and i can get my smaller sized clothes out of the attic soon!

What is the video? I love yoga but can't get out to a class these days.

The video is put out by Gaiam, and I think it's just called "Yoga for Abs" with Rodney Yee. We picked it up at Whole Foods. And it is torture! (In a good way, that is. )
