cruising?

when did your babies start cruising? gaia started pulling herself up alongside our bed and walking around it like 2 or 3 weeks ago, and luna slowly followed after her. gaia is fearless... everytime we turn around she's in a new place... so when did everyone elses babies start to do this??? how long does it "normally" take for them to try to walk on their own?

 

Every baby is different. Marcus cruised for 1 month--Jonathan for 3 1/2 months. Jon started at 8 1/2 months, and Marcus actually walked on his own first, one week before his brother.

I agree with Sharon, every baby is different. Our friends' DD who is 10 days older than the girls started cruising at 6 months old. Our friends started bragging to us that their DD was going to be the earliest walker ever! My girls didn't start cruising until they were 9 1/2 months old and started taking independent steps at 10 months, and were walking well by 11 months. Our friends' DD didn't start walking independently until 14 months.

So as you can see you might have cruisers for awhile, or walkers really soon... regardless start gating and baby proofing NOW

 

Now you are getting to the fun part IMO. I loved the cruising stage. We started cruising at about 9.5 months and they walked at 12 months and 13 months independently.

 

My DD is just now starting to walk around her crib. She has not got the balance thing down pat yet though. DS has not attempted this yet.
