So Braeden started w/the croupy cough on Wednesday, friday he broke out into a 103 degree fever that i can't seem to tame, even w/motrin/tylenol every 4 hours. My concern is it may turn into something worse, is is common to have such a high fever w/croup?
I called the pedi the other day, they gave me the basic home treatments for croup, but now that we have the fever i am calling back today and hoping they have hours.

I hope your little one feels better soon! My twins had croup last month. The pedi said while the infection is viral, it can go into a secondary infection. Both of mine ended up with ear infections and had to go back in. Good luck! Let us know how he is feeling.

Aaron had a ranging fever when he had the croup cough. We ended up in the emergency room, so be careful to keep an eye on his breathing.

Oh I am so sorry :( Croup is so terrible.

Philip has had a fever all 3 times he has had croup. We have been in the ER everytime because of breathing issues.

I hope that it magically goes away today :hug99:

Mitchell occasionally gets fever with croup. But like other posters said...a lot of times its bc it went to an ear infection or something else. I would call dr if it doesn't go down today.

Nefeli had the croup a couple of times this year but no fever. I would talk to the dr again especially since you're having a hard time keeping the fever down. Hope your little one is feeling well real soon.

We are having the same issue right now, croup with a fever. Our fevers haven't gone over 101.7 tho, so I don't know what to say. Maybe you should check them out at your pedi in case they have an additional infection.

Going outside in the cold air really helps with croup. I hope things get better soon.

Well I took Braeden to the DR, no infections anywhere, but she did give Anti-biotic. Went home and Gavin had started w/just the fever/cold symptoms!! He spiked as high as 104.4 yesterday, Christmas!! So needless to say, he was miserable all day. He seems better today, but still the fever.

Amy had croup last week and had a fever from 100-102 for about 3 days. It was better in the mornings and went up again in the afternoon/evening. She actually only sounded croupy for the first day (and not even the whole day) -- the rest of the time she just seemed like she had a bad cold, except that she also had a fever.
