Did I read this here somewhere how you can get a small crockpot and use it to heat bottles. Can someone give me more info. What size crockpot, do you leave water in it, hot all the time..do you put it on hight...etc. It sounded like a great idea...

    Thanks for your help.

I read this in a book called Multiples Manual by Lynn Lorenz. She is the mother of triplets and she used a crock pot to heat bottles. Sounds like you leave it on all day and just replenish water into it that evaporates off. It didn't say what temp, but I would say low. I make ckn in my crockpot yesterday on low and it got pretty hot. My guess would be to fill it full enough with water that it covers the formula in the bottles your heating.

I read this tip on TS after we were done with bottles and it sounded like such a great idea! I would keep it on low, depending on the crockpot I think high can get a little tooo hot. I would keep enough water in it so the bottles stand nicely and of course like Michelle said, keep replenishing so it doesn't all evaporate.

Yes when I worked in daycare with the infants this is what we did. We had the crockpot on low and just made sure it was kept full of enough water. It stayed hot enough to heat the bottles in a few minutes.

I too work in a daycare and we do the same... it is a blessing and a half. Most of the bottle warmers that I found were for single bottles or super expensive, so we just got a crock pot, which we can use for a variety of things even after the bottle feeding is done. I don't think size really matters though just big enough to hold two bottles [IMG]

we did this too. we got 2 crockpots actually, for about $5 at walmart. the smallest size they had. we kept one in our bedroom, where they slept, and one in the kitchen. we kept both on low and replenished the water but we did empty and clean them every few days. the size we had fit two bottles perfectly.

I use a crock pot. Leave it on low all the time, but with the lid on it can get hot. Just make sure you keep water in it so it doesn't become a fire hazard.

I think this is a great alternative to heating plastic bottles in the microwave. There has been so much information lately about chemicals leaching into our food from microwaving and I really didn't want to go with glass bottles. Thanks for the great tip! Oh and by the way - the bottle warmers that you plug into your cigarette lighter in your car are soooo slow - don't waste your money!!
