The girls just turned one and I was thinking of letting them have something in their crib now. They were both given little crocheted blankets by my great aunt and I was wondering if these would be safe enough in their cribs. They have the little holes, so I thought of any blanket these would probably be the best, what do you guys think?

I just put something similar in the girls cribs yesterday. It was cold upstairs for the first time in a long time. How big are they?

Mine have all 3 had crocheted blankets in w/them since they were about 6 months old (these had big holes---we also have some w/smaller holes that I started allowing at about 9-10 months). Theses are their favorite blankets and they CRY when they don't have them. I think that should be fine.

I feel comfortable with them. We have some handmade blankets that were given to us and I put them in the crib without worry. I figure, if I can put it up to my face and breath through it, it's ok. In fact I feel much more comfortable with these blankets than others because of the holes.

I can't remember exactly how old they were when I gave them the crocheted blankets, but I know they were moving around enough to where I thought that if they got tangled or something, they would be able to get out of it.

Just look over the blankets & make sure there aren't any loose threads or knots......I made ours myself & was very careful about tying the knots super tight.

Dawn, they are like baby blanket size, smaller than a typical throw that you'd have on the couch.

I let my girls have theirs before they turned a year old. I don't remember exactly when, but probably somewhere around 9 months. They are very lightweight. They are their favorite "blankies" now, because that's all they were allowed to have for so long. Even now that they are sleeping with heavier blankets, they have their crocheted blankets close to their face.
