My husband and I are really lost as to what we are planning regarding the cribs. Should we have 1 or 2? Have the babies sleep together or separate them as soon as we arrive home? People have brought up the suffocation & rolling on top of each other aspect, so now im paranoid lol Im assuming that it would be ok to have them in 1 crib until they are able to start rolling & moving around, but im not 100% sure.

We bought 2 cribs from the start because we got such an amazing deal, between the sale price, the mulitples discount and a coupon we got 800$ worth of cribs for 350. So thats why we jumped on it.

Willa Grace and Wyatt slept in the pnp together for the first 4 months. Then we moved them to their bedroom into Willa Graces crib for the next 3 months. They have been in seperate cribs for about a month now. The only reason we moved Wyatt to his crib was that they were rolling around and starting to army crawl around the crib and waking each other up.

I will say it broke my heart a little to move them. They on the other hand slept great being apart. They slept as well apart as they did together before they started moving. The way I looked at it they had been side by side for 34 weeks snuggled in nice and warm. They were even in the same bed in the NICU so who was I to break up the set LOL

You will eventually want two cribs. You don't need to get them right off the bat, but it's really just a matter of getting them both now or getting a second one a bit later. We slept our boys side-by-side in the bassinet part of a PNP for a few weeks when we first got home. The weight limit for the bassinet is 15 lbs., so that was short-lived. Then we slept them in the bassinet part of separate PNPs for another 2-3 months in our room because we wanted them right by our sides. After about three months home (or even less), we moved them into their separate cribs in their nursery. I could no longer see using PNPs when we had these beautiful cribs in their nursery (the bassinet portion of PNPs is really just cardboard, so it can't be too comfy). I then slept on a mattress on the floor of their nursery for another 2-3 months until I was comfortable enough sleeping in a separate room from them. We have never co-slept them except for those very early days in a PNP. I don't see how people do it with all of the moving around they do. Plus, I never felt comfortable with the idea of them sleeping "smushed" up against each other, especially under a year old (their cribs are right next to each other so they are very aware that one another is right there).
This is what worked for us. You may find something different works for you, but I'd still plan on using two cribs by the time they're able to roll/move around.
PS. We bought convertible cribs that convert to toddler beds and then full-size beds, so you take care of it all at the same time (albeit it's more $$$ all at once rather than spread out). You may want to look into them if it's of interest to you.

You will eventually need 2 cribs. Mine slept in the PNP together for a bit. Once we moved them to cribs at 4 months though, we put them each in their own crib. :good:

My first set slept in a crib together till 3-4 months when they started rolling around. Then put them in their own side by side. I plan on doing the same with our second set!

We only set up one crib at first, but as it turned out we barely used it till about 4 months -- the babies slept in bouncy seats and swings, or occasionally in the Pack & Play. By the time we were ready to transfer them to the crib, they needed two cribs because they were moving around a lot.

We tried them together in the PNP at around 8 weeks -- they slept great for one night and we thought, "Ah-hah! That's the answer!" but then the next night they woke each other up constantly and we gave up.

So, there is nothing wrong with sleeping them together if it works for you, but many people find that it doesn't work much past the newborn stage, if that.

I plan on having the girls sleep together while in my room...that is until they start rolling! We have two cribs, and will be putting them side by side so the girls can continue to interact with one another even though they will be in their own bed.

My boys were tiny (4lbs at 1 month) so they slept together in a pnp downstairs for about 3 months. We bought mini cribs for them and I was sad that they couldn't sleep in them together. They also grew out of them at about 20 months. Just throwing in my 2 cents not to do mini cribs. :)

I had a grand dream that they would sleep together, but from the beginning Orion is a heat-seeking missile and would annoy Sebastian while he was sleeping. Plus they really slept better for us in bouncy seats or in their swings, so they moved from there into their own cribs in their room at about 4 months.

Thanks all. We plan on buying 2 cribs and most likely going to put them in 1 crib until they begin rolling over and moving. Of course that could change once theyre home, so we'll see what happens

just to repeat the answer...2 cribs are the final answer...i have one from my first, but will get a 2nd convertible crib. each to their own on when to seperate, more likely the the twins decided :0) so i might just put our pnp in our master bedroom, until i feel comfortable moving them into their cribs. thx for the answers...i feel so new at this yet.
