Crib tents?

Okay, twinzilla and her brother have learned to climb out of their cribs and it is getting impossible to keep them in there for naps and right at bed time. My question.....is it worth it to buy the crib tents now (they are 2 years 1 month) or should we move them to toddler beds at this point. I am hesitant to move them, because if I can't keep them in the cribs, how will I keep them in the beds??

    Looking for your expert opinions.....

I say try the crib tents. I can't imagine trying to get my two to stay in a regular bed. Good luck!

I'd get the tents. Some would say no but we've made the mistake out of excitement of taking our kids out of cribs and into big kids beds. Some kids do great but some are a nightmare. They can get out in the middle of the night. They can get into trouble. They can play with each other if they share a room. Its just much safer. That may change in 6 months but worth a safe nights sleep.

Jon got his tent at that age.

I would go for the crib tent. My personal philosophy is to keep them in the crib as LONG as possible! [IMG]

Crib tents! I think you don't want to be trying to make 3 kids sleep! I'm trying to keep mine in their cribs until 3. That would give you a whole year of use [IMG]

I'm the oddball. We switched the girls to toddler beds at two years old. I know my girls personalities and I knew that if I tried to keep them in tents that they'd fight me every night. Kaitlyn climbed out of her crib twice and we switched them. Kelly most likely would have stayed in her crib longer but we decided the time was right for us. They transitioned well. We went through a brief period where we had some problems getting them to sleep bit it wasn't horrible.

I would say to assess your kids' personalities. How do you think they'd do in a bed? Maybe you could borrow crib tents from someone to see if they work for you.

I bought the crib tents at about 2 years 4 months old and it was worth every penny. The girls started climbing out of their cribs at 25 months and I tried the switch to toddler beds with a few months of disastrous results. [IMG] Finally, I got the tents and the girls started taking naps and falling asleep at night again. [IMG] When they got to 3 years old, they were much more mature and ready to make the switch to toddler beds.

Will you have the patience to assist in the transition at this stage? When Kayla first made her climb I knew I would not be able to give the transition the attention it deserved and did not think it was fair to them to attempt it. I went with the crib tents. For me they were worth every penny in sanity.

I agree that you should assess your children but I also think it helps to think about yourself. For lack of a better analogy, it takes a team effort to make the transition work, in my case I knew one part of the team couldn't carry their weight and was uncertain about the other (little predictability with 2 year olds) so I waited until 3 to switch to beds.
