Crib Mattress

I just read in the book "Having Twins" by Elizabeth Noble about wrapping your crib mattress. She talks about how doing it properly can reduce carbon monoxide which can reduce SIDS.

I've never done this with either of my other 2 children. Should I start now? I'd have to read it again to figure out just how to do it. Also, the mattress we have is the one I had for my oldest who is 7 now. Is it still safe? Do I need to buy a new one. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. TIA

 

I recently read that its something in the baby when they are born if they have a higher chance of dying from sids... Which makes sense... I am not a worrier, so I wouldnt do a thing, but if it makes you feel better, then do it.

 

We never did anything to our crib mattresses for any of our kids. In fact Trevor has always used the one that we had for our oldest DD who is now 7.5 years old. But you do what makes you feel best.

 

The book by Elizabeth Noble leans towards the earthy, organic side of things. I like to read it to get another opinion but she tends to be a little radical for me. I'm not interested in home birthing multiples in my shower!

Interesting!! I haven't made it to that part yet.

Thanks all for your responses. It makes me feel better to know everyone's experiences. I didn't do anything special for my other 2 concerning the crib mattress and it sounds like I shouldn't need to for the next 2.
