Wierd question? Maybe. But I fear the hubby and I are being a bit too neurotic when it comes to the boys' cribs. I really keep them pretty empty because I'm still so afraid of the boys getting caught up in blankets and pillows and they are going on 18 mos. They have always been awesome sleepers. They've gone right down without any protest since 4 months and they rarely wake until morning, so I don't think they are uncomfortable. I'm just curious what your kids sleep with at this age and when you added them.

mine get blankies and have been for a while...probably since around 10 months. They also get a sippy with water, a teddy bear, their pacifiers (going soon), and sometimes a book during naptime b/c they fall asleep "reading"

SO, uh, we are crib crowders, I guess. :)

A couple of times I've put a small blanket on DS because his room gets cooler than others but it just bothers me to think of what could happen so I go and take it off. DS has a FP night light/music/water thingy that is hooked onto the side of the crib. DD has nothing. IMHO, it's just not worth it to me to have anything in there. And it's not just because my babies go to sleep with no assistance because our DS1 was a terrible sleeper and we still never put anything in with him either. No offense to anyone who does add things in the crib. We just have decided not to.

We'll be 18 mos this week. We were also on the neurotic side and had NOTHING in there with them until about 12 months.

They now sleep with their "snuggly" (an 18 x 18 inch taggie blanket), & 2 small chenille animals. The animals they could do without, but provide wind-down entertainment. But they are very attached to their snugglies.

I am hoping to offer them a small pillow/blanket when the weather turns cold. I'm confident they will do just fine with them. We play "baby burrito" where we wrap them up like when they were swaddled and they wrestle their way out...I can't imagine a way they would get further "burrito'd" than I make them in the regular throws of sleep.

I know someone who put a blanket in with their baby(about 16mo)and the blanket ended up wrapping around their neck while they were sleeping. The baby was fine but just the thought of seeing that creeps me out.

When mine were 18 month (and still in a crib) they had a pillow, blanket and I would sneak book/small toys in while they were sleeping so they could play nice in the morning before they got out of bed!

Ellie has a couple of dolls, her small comfort blanket, a lightweight blanket....and whatever else Joey decides to throw in there. On occasion that has included the entire contents of their bookshelf or all the stuffed animals/dolls/blankets from her own bed. Usually Ellie isn't in there when the crib becomes the toy box, but I wait too long after they wake up from their nap who knows what I wil find!!

I plan to give Ellie a pillow at Christmas time. That's when Joey got hers, about 22 months, and I had no concerns.

We had Taggies starting around 6ish months, can't remember exactly, but not really anything else until around 17 months or so, when they each got a small baby doll (the FP Little Mommy twin dolls) and an Ugly Doll, and from there it exploded into an extravaganza of over-stuffed cribs, LOL! We started blankets at about 22 months and gave small pillows (from Mr Bobble's Blankets) for the 2nd birthdays. Now they have al of the above plus about 6 other stuffed animals each, plus they each take at least 2 books to bed with them each night. Sometimes Natalie empties almost the whole bookshelf into her crib when she's getting ready yo go to bed. :)

I used to be queen on this- scared to put anything in their cribs. They are over 2 now (adjusted age just turning 2 at the end of the month) and we have- their lovey, a blanket, a little elmo stuffed animal, a horse (small stuffed), a baby, 2 rubber like toys- sometimes they chew on them (2 yr teeth maybe?), etc. I change it around so they don't get bored. They fall asleep on their own- but in case they wake up this helps. None of the animals have plastic eyes that can come off. We just started the blanket thing about a month or so ago. They are good about it.

They both have a blanket each and Jack has a pink stuffed pig that he has to have when he goes to sleep. If you oput stuff in the cot with them they just throw it out even if it is just extra dummies. x

Well both get a lighter blanket and a heavier blanket. They also have these gieant stuffed bunnies they use as pillows. They get a sippy too. Then Maya gets a baby doll, her "Bankie Bear" (security blanket with bear head attatched, and a doll usually. Mason gets teddy bears sometimes he wants just one sometimes three and maybe another toy of his choice. They usually sleep through the night from 8 pm to 8-9 am without a problem.

Thanks everyone. I'm glad I'm not the only one who worries about this~ I think I'll follow Sweet PeaG's lead and give them blankets when the weather gets colder. I guess they don't know what they are missing now!

Not a weird question at all. Our boys are 22 mos and we just started putting a blankie in their w/in the last few months. At first, they didn't even care about them. Now, they actually lay down to get covered up. When we first started using the blankets, I would take them out before I went to bed. We just tried pillows one night a couple of weeks ago. They weren't using them when I went to bed, so out they came. lol. I'm sure they would be fine, but it still makes me nervous. So for now, it's just a little blankie. Oh, and one of the boys has a very small duck he chews on and sleeps with.

I quit worrying about blankets at 12 months. I never worried all that much, but officially quit worrying then. They have blankies and stuffed loveys (Amy has one, Sarah has two), plus Amy has a bunch of drool bibs (the lovey she chose for herself).

Fortunately they haven't hit the stage yet where they demand to take lots of random objects to bed with them. So far we've had good luck with having them kiss all the toys and stuffed animals (except the two that they always take to bed) goodnight in the living room.

They don't use the blankets -- they sleep on top of them for the most part.

I'm not worried about putting other stuff in their cribs for safety reasons, but 1) I don't want it to become a stalling tactic, and 2) I'm afraid if they have too many toys in there, they'll roll over on it and wake themselves up constantly.

They sleep great without pillows, so I'm not bothering with those until they start asking for them.

Mine have the entire world in their cribs. It's ridiculous. They are big time take-a-random-object-to-bed kids. Ainsley is currently sleeping with a measuring cup from the play kitchen and a bathtub boat, and Bea has a Little People boy, this is in addition to the two blankets for each, a pillow, and random stuffed animals and baby dolls. Every so often, I have to sneak in and "thin the herd". They were like this at 18 months too, it's gotten a little better. I had to do some semi-CIO over demanding that they must have this or that in order to sleep. Half of it ends up on the floor anyway.

They had nothing for a long time other than a very small crocheted blanket (very open) that each of them had in the NICU. Now, OMG, what isn't in there! 2-4 stuffed animals and the little blankies are standard. I believe right now Dora's Map and "I Love You Stinky Face" are in with Kate, and Lilly definitely has Little People Maggie. Sometimes there's a shoe. Once Kate wouldn't part with the inflatable pool ring that's around her head in this picture so in it went for a nap.

My kids have blanket fetishes. So two blankets, one taggy, 4 or 5 little stuffed animals and sometimes a book or a little train toy. They like to play with the stuffeds and the toys in the morning and before naps. Works for us so we keep it in there.

Mine have just the sleep sack they are wearing. They never seemed to mind, so I have not added anything since they sleep so well.
