DS keeps getting his legs stuck in the crib slats and gets very upset. We used to have traditional bumpers on the crib but I took them off a few months ago because they weren't very tight and the boys were getting their heads caught in the space b/w the crib and the bumper which made me very nervous. Anyone use the breathable mesh bumpers - what kind do you have and do they work well? Or any other suggestions?

we just started using the mesh ones from onestepahead. the girls dont' move much so I don't know about getting stuck but the one thing I don't like is that it is a tight fit between the mattress and the railings so when we slide the crib side up and down the mesh gets all squished down and makes noise and then is a pain to fix when you put the side back up. but that only happens on the crib that has the thicker mattress. on the other DD's crib the mattress is just a bit smaller and it works fine. I was going to suggest the breathable mesh ones as well. We never used them, but I know of people who did and liked them.

We've been using the breathable bumpers since they were born (they are 13.5 weeks). In the first few weeks, it would have made no difference if they had a bumper or not, as they didn't move much in their sleep. The last few weeks they have gotten very wriggly, and manage to turn themselves 90 degrees each in their sleep. A couple nights ago, I found my daughter with her face pressed up against the bumper - intitally I freaked out, but as the bumper was breathable, no big deal. Definitely glad we have them. They need the padding around the edges, but being breathable adds extra safety. Not sure what kind we have, but they are from Babies R Us for about $25 each.

I got the breathable bumpers too (quite sure there is only one type with that exact name, although they have different types for different types of cribs). We only put them in when DS started getting his feet stuck between the slats. Now it's much better, although he likes kicking the slats and still ends up with his feet stuck above the bumper occasionally. Not sure DD needs them, but she sleeps against them a lot, so better safe than sorry.

I have the breathable bumpers. I thought there was only 1 kind? I bought the green color at BRU. I love them!
