The boys will be 10 months on the 1st & I can't help but notice their not really interested in crawling. Anthony is more than Angelo and he can actually get up on all fours for a couple seconds but then quickly goes back down. My pedi said that crawling isn't even considered a big milestone anymore and that some kids walk before they crawl. I can't help but WANT to meet that milestone though.. I think they'd love it.

Any suggestions? I try to get them enthused by placing them on their tummys and sitting away from them with a toy & trying to get them to come to it.. no luck.

Is it get a patience thing or a dont-worry-about-it kind of thing?

I just posted that my boys just started crawling this week - and they are 11 month and 3 weeks old. They've been getting up on all 4's for the past month, pushing around backwards on their bellies for the past month, etc. - but they just never got it all together to go forward. And then suddenly, they did. :)

I would try not to worry - especially if you've talked to your pedi about it. I know I called EI for a physical therapy eval for my boys and they are scheduled to come out on Dec. 30th - of course, they started crawling just days after I completed the intake interview! :D Oh well.

It is so hard not to worry, isn't it?

i would vote it's a don't-worry-about-it kind of thing. as your pedi said, crawling isn't consider a milestone - some babies do skip it & go straight to walking. :) that being said, i'll probably be back here in four months posting about my girls not crawling yet & wondering if i shoud worry about it... ;)

Enticing them with things like remote controls can work. With my Dd I used cheerios because that is what she loved so i just place it out of her reach. M was pretty motivated to get going on his own so i didn't have to do much with him and I think once he started crawling C got tired of him stealing all his toys so he decided he would too.

It's not considered a milestone but I have read that it "can" be linked to problems with reading later on. Your boys are still only 9 months so I wouldn't worry to much but IMO I would try to help them along.

Hang in there. It will come. Just give them plenty of opportunity to be on the floor and explore.

Well w/ my oldest DS I was encouraging him to do everything as early as possible… so he was crawling early and at full run by 10m… well it meant nothing… as all his buddies that were later (like not walking until 18+ m) now at 10 years old they are all the same… he caught to them academically and they caught up to him physically… so because of that… w/ my new dudes… I don’t encourage it… but I don’t discourage it… it will happen when it happens and I will put $ on the thought Nathan wont crawl he will go straight to walking…
