My DD is almost 9 months and isn't crawling yet. she has reflux in the beginning and not that bad anymore. she wouldn't even go on her tummy for awhile. she sits on her own and likes to roll all over. my DS however crawls all over the place and even tries to stand up. she just looks at him like hey whatever i am staying right here. somebody made a comment (MIL of course) on how come she is sooo slow. should i be concerned? after reading some of these blogs about MIL's i have learned that mine really is insaine and most are  But I was also wondering if i am supposed to be doing something different to make her crawl or what.

Nope, no reason to be concerned. My two didn't crawl until 10.5 and 11 months and then walked at 13 months. She will crawl when she is ready.

Crawling isn't a milestone, I wouldn't be worried as long as she is doing other age appropriate things.

One of my DD's crawled by 9 months, but the other didn't crawl until 13 months. No need to worry, they will all do it on their own time.

Mine crawled at 6 months but at almost 10 my Victoria doesnt want to drink out of a sippy cup whereas Athena drinks as if it is all she has ever done. What I am trying to say is that babies develop at their own pace and we as twin mommies seem to fret more because we have another baby to compare with. So dont worry when she is ready to crawl she will.

At 11 mo my ds was starting to crawl but my dd still didn't even want to roll over! (They were born 3 1/2 mo early so they were a bit behind anyway) In fact she screamed whenever i tried to put her on her tummy. Then all the sudden one day it clicked. Proabably b/c she was jealous of her brother getting around. Anyway, within 2 weeks, she rolled over on her belly, started pulling up on furniture, and began crawling! She was about 13 mo when that happened. Now, she is the one trying to walk and has way surpassed her brother in the physical sense. So, she'll get there!

Mine did this funny army crawl using one arm to pull themselves forward (not two arms) and one big toe to push themselves forward. They got very fast at this so they didn't crawl until about 11 months. They crawled for about 5 weeks and then started walking. I owuldn't worry!

    Hi,

My twins are 9 months old, born preemie at 33 weeks, but healthy. They also had severe reflux issues and we didn't put them on bellies that much earlier on. DD is sitting around and army crawling (not true crawling), she rolls around and just generally is happy with what toy is closest to her. DS is crawling and just started standing on his own! He is so much ahead of DD. We have had PT and OT for the last 2 months and it seems it is helping some but I really think even with PT and such, babies will do what they can when they can and when they want to do it. PT is great and may be a good thing for you to look into but even with that said I think nature will control when the babies reach certain milestones.

However, if the reflux is gone now, you may try to work a little more with your daughter to get her more motivated to move, work on her upper arm strength by doing some wheel barrel walking (on hands) and try to get her to reach toys, don't just hand them to her.

good luck and hope this helps.

I agree with pp, it isn't really a milestone, and many kids do skip crawling and go straight to walking. My ds didn't crawl until 9.5 months and my dd at almost 10 months. Every child is different and will do it in their own time. Don't worry momma, if she is doing other age appropriate things {which it sounds like she is...the rolling all over} then try and not stress too much over it. :)

Porter crawled perfectly before 9 months, but Bridger always did this inchworm kind of thing to get around. He got around okay that way, and I honestly figured he would just never crawl like normal. Well one day about 12 months, he just started crawling normally like he had been doing it forever. Never did the inchworm again. I actually had to do a double take because their crawling style was how I told them apart!

I read in the AAP book (Wonder Years) that all you need to see is that they can move somehow by the time they're one year old. Whether it's crawling, rolling, walking, whatever.....as long as they can get where they want to go by one year, they're developing just fine!

My ds crawled at 9 months and my dd crawled at about 11 months. My dd didnt roll either! Think she is lazy like her mum lol. I wouldnt worry to much about your dd she could just just skip crawling altogether and just start walking x
