[IMG] Oh hun!! DON"T WORRY!!!! I think your doc may be a little bit too "over-zealous". Lots of kids do not crawl or pull up at that age, DS1 never ever crawled he just butt-shuffled (around 11 months) and went straight to walking, he didn't do much pulling up either, he just wasn't interested. Babies are different and no matter what we do, they will do things in their own time, if they are happy where they are, growing well, there is no cause for concern at their age. I don't even know why he is making you worry so much because as far as I know, crawling is not a developmental milestone as not every baby does it.[IMG]

My twins are almost 10 months old (on the 1st) they are not crawling yet and my pedi was not concerned in the slightest. She even told me that her twins didn't even walk until 17 months. I would not worry what so ever!!! Just keep putting them on the floor and something will eventually happen. I personally believe it isn't time to really worry about it.

I wouldn't worry. I had the same problem at their 9 month appt. My Dr. had me all worried that they were not crawling. They both crawl now. (They will be 1 yr. old next month.) I also was told when I voiced the same concern here not to worry too much.

I wouldn't worry about it for now but I would definitely discontinue all exercisers and jumpers. They do slow the motor skill development because kids don't get an opportunity to explore and desire to go after toys since all exercisers have them attached. I stopped using all that at 6 months. I am sure they will catch up very soon.

I wouldn't worry. Boys are much slower to crawl or walk than girls. My DS did not crawl until 12 months and he was really scooting on his bottom at that time. He was also born at 35 weeks. You have to think of them as a 9 month old instead of 10 months, then it puts things into perspective.

Don't sweat it, doctors "have to" tell you these things. It's you who decides what you would like to do with the information.
    Good Luck.

My older son didnt crawl at all until 12 months, or sit himself up, or do any of those stuff. I did do an EI eval, and they said he didnt qualify, they are still in the expected age range at that point.

That being said, my girls just started crawling recently, one before the other, and to help them out, I would place them on their hands and knees and crawl for them, I dont know if it really made a difference, I suspect it didnt, but at least it got them used to rhythm.

Many babies do not crawl until closer to a year. Try not to worry. Do they push with their feet at all when they are on their bellies? I used to put my hand behind their little feet so they would have something to push against & they would move themselves a bit. Really there isn't much you can do to get them to start crawling. Give them ample time on the floor & tempt them with toys, beyond that it just takes time!

I don't think crawling is even considered a milestone, because not all kids do it and they certainly don't do it at the same ages. My oldest ds crawled around 10 months, started walking at 13 months, my oldest dd started crawling about 11 months, walked at 15 months. Liam started army crawling at 6 months, real crawling at 8 months, walking at 11.5 months. Rylee didn't army crawl until 8.5 months, real crawling at 10 months and is just now walking at 13 months.

I would definitely discontinue the exersaucers/jumperoo's...mine were no longer happy in them by 6-7 months, and just let them play on the floor. Place lots of cool toys around them just out of reach and let them explore their area on their own. They'll do it when they are ready to, or not...they may skip crawling completely.

On the one hand, this doesn't sound that late to me - you are still within normal limits. However, I would still take the referral. I wonder if he saw something else that made him concerned, or if there is something in the kids' history that make them higher risk. The neurologist with just rule out anything super serious, which will be a relief :) I'm sure your kiddos are fine.

I wouldn't worry about it either... actually I'd be thankful they're not into everything yet lol I do agree though I probably would still take them and see what they have to say, I'm sure it'll set your mind at ease! Good luck!

My boys crawled...one at 10 months the other closer to 11. The late crawler pulled to stand at 12 months walked at 15. the earlier crawler (10 months) did not pull to stand until 14 1/2 months but still walked at 15 months. I think your doctor is being a bit overly dramatic. My doc was never really worried. I did get the boys physical therapy but they are soon to be dropped.
