cramping & sharp back pain

I have been having some very strong menstral like cramps as well as sharp pains in my back. They are more of a constant pain and I was almost in tears last night because of all the pain. Last time I went to L & D a week ago for this they told me it was nothing and I wasnt having any contractions at all. I have been able to go to the bathroom and have gas(sorry tmi) as usual and the boys are up in my ribs for the most part which isnt comfortable either. They have decreased thier movement but I still feel them the recommend amount of time that the Ob suggest. I called my Ob today and they just said if they get to painful to go to L & D or if they are contractions go. Im so lost at what things are these days I just want to pull my hair out lol. The cramping and sharp back pain does come and go but when it is hear it is so strong OMG I dont know if I can handle it. I am laying on my left side as much as possible and drinking lots of fluid. Could these be BH (even though I thought I knew what they were) or is it just growing pains. I need some kind of advise and need to know how to make them go away. I feel bad running to L & D everytime I dont know the answer to something so trying to avoid it.... Help me please

 

Where in your back are you feeling the sharp back pains?

I've been dealing with a horrible kidney stone the past 2 weeks. Kidney stones can present with severe pain in your back/side near your ribs and can radiate down toward and hurt also by your bladder and groin. Just a thought...

Sorry to hear about your pain ~ I am feeling the same way!

I had menstrual like bad cramps just about all day yesterday. I got nervous, but last time I was in L&D they said that it was probably just my positioning. I tried everything last night & they didn't go away. I was going to call dr. this morning if they were still there, but I feel better today.

As for the back pain, I am now feeling sharp sharp pains under one of my shoulder blades??? So weird. No idea what it could be. Maybe all the weight I am carrying in the front is causing it?? Not sure...

Anywhooooo, I hope you feel better & if you get any insight on to what the cramps are all about let me know!!!

it is in my lower back where I usually have pain when its that time of the month, they all feel like pain fromt he 1st day of my peroid by like 5x worse.
also last sunday i was tested at the hospital for a UTI so i know it cant be that because these pains were there last sunday, they are just more intense now.
thank u and I hope I find relief as well. Baths, heating pads, and my terb pills arent helping though.

thank u i know that the menstral cramps could be growing pains but i know what those are like and I know growing pains dont last almost a week without letting up. I hope u feel better as well. in your shoulder blades ahhh im sorry mine is my lower back and its killer!!

I totally understand how you're feeling....I am now 25 weeks and I do have ribcage pain every afternoon starting around 2pm, right after eating. both babies are head down and their legs are right up in my ribs, argh!
a couple hours later, the pain spreads of course into my mid back....it's not very constant but uncomfortable.
what helped for me was really only warm baths, and many of them....pretty much every night I get home from work, and also heating pad on the back for a while when I lay on my side in the evening.

I do not have the menstrual cramps though....

hang in there, also, my hubby gives me often back rubs so that helps too...(he's a massage therapist

I am also measuring at 36wks which was last week, so im wondering if im just feeling all the pain that a singleton end of pregnancy would feel.(this is my 1st rpegnancy so i have no clue) i get so miserable sometimes and keep thinking one more day, one more week, im pushing for 10 more weeks ;-)

 

I had no sensation of my contractions other than back pain until after 5 cm dilation so your description worries me. I'd definitely go to L&D and get checked out. Who cares if they think you're a worry wart?! They were wrong to make you feel like your concerns weren't valid enough for their time. IMHO, it's better to go and waste an afternoon than to have it escalate unchecked and realize you're in full-blown labor when it's too late to intervene.

 

i felt very similar pain around 24w and went into L&D after about 8 hours of PAIN - you shouldn't feel bad about going in, especially if you're feeling "off." In my case, i was having ctx and just didn't know that that is what ctx felt like! yes, ctx can feel like menstrual cramps! If you have any doubt as to why you are having cramping pain/back pain, then you should get it checked out.
