    Hi
I have been experiencing cramping (almost feels like uterine contractions) They asked me to come in and see the OB this morning. They took a urine sample and said sometimes a bladder infection will cause uterine irritability. Has anyone else experienced this?? If so what did you do?

    Thanks
    Laurie

Cramping is not normal at ten weeks... personally I would ask for an u/s for reassurance.... I've had a lot of bleeding from my placenta...and some has occurred with bleeding out...other times the blood accumulation inside gets bigger without me bleeding out... blood inside the uterus can cause irritation and cramping. I have heard that bladder infections can cause it too...but I still think if you are having cramping that bothers you then a simple u/s is in order. Especially since you are still too early to get a doppler check on those hbs... I don't want to scare you, but really, if this oontinues tomorrow leave a message for the doctor that you would like an u/s to check. Lots of women get extra u/s for dumber reasons than this...and a reasonable doctor would rather do the u/s to put your mind at rest then let you continue to be so uncomfortable...Hope you get some good reassurance and it turns out to just be some standard discomfort..

oops Sorry I did get an u/s and babies are both doing well and he saw nothing suspicious... I cried all the way home I was so relieved...
I'm taking another night off and trying to really hydrate myself as I've read that can also help... depending on the cause...

    Thanks for your reply....

I had a few UTI's when I was pregnant with the twins and they can definately cause your uterus to cramp/contract. I am assuming they are doing a urine culture? Until you find out the results...WATER, WATER, WATER, and then more WATER!

I had mild cramping between 8-14 weeks with both my PGs. I did call the OB and she said that it's the uterus stretching and preparing. But the cramping was mild like mow-grade menstrual cramps. It's good that you called and got an U/S. Don't hesitate to call your OB whenever you think something might be wrong. Good luck!

I had lots of cramping, but none was severe. If it is bad enough that you cant really do anything, then there may be a problem, but otherwise, little cramps and pains are probably just stretching. And I am sure that is much more severe with twins! :) Good luck! And as mentioned above, never hesitate to call and ask a question. :) I am glad all was well on the ultrasound, and I am sure everything is fine.
