Crampiness and Contractions

I’m 33w4days today and seem to be contracting all the time. I’m having menstrual cramp type feelings in my abdomen and lower back. This is a relatively new symptom that started on Wednesday. I had a NST on Wednesday (before the crampiness started) that showed a lot of contractions and a generally irritable uterus, but I also had a cervix check and it was closed tight and not softened. So, my question is whether I need to be concerned about this crampiness and the contractions or not. I think at this point if I went into labor, they probably wouldn’t stop me since I’ll be 34 weeks on Monday. We’re no longer in the true danger zone for PTL, but I REALLY want to hold them in until 36 weeks (but I’ll take 34 weeks at this point).

Did anyone else have these cramps and contractions a lot during the later weeks and still last a while?

Also, the babies movements are literally hurting me at this point. Could that be contributing to the menstrual-type feeling I’m having? Maybe not just contractions?

    Thanks!

Yes, you are out of the "true danger zone of PTL", but those babies will be FAR BETTER OFF staying in there. My doctors would have and had stopped my labor that early. I delivered at 37w 3d and I was contracting for the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy. The contractions were not doing anything to my cervix. It was just an irritible uterus. It was not fun and made sleeping very difficult, but I had two big boys.

If you have any concerns call your OB or go to L&D, that is why they are there.

If I was you I would go into L&D to get checked out. I am just waiting for my husband to come home and I am on my way there myself. I am having lower back pain and called the Dr. and they told me to go in and get checked out.
    Better safe then sorry!

I had a lot of that last week and was quite worried too. Put your feet up and drink lots of water if it continues I'd head to the L&D too!

I hope the contractions slowed down for you. I agree with the previous poster, drink alot and lay down. :good: I had alot of contractions towards the end that was because of my irriatated uterus <_< and it never sent me into labor, I hope it doesn't happen for you either. Always call your doctor if you are worried or aren't feeling right.
