    Hi,

I'm not very crafty but am trying to learn! I was wondering if there are any suggestions for items I should be saving (beyond papertowel and toilet paper rolls) to use for crafts with my kids. The twins are 2 1/2 and I want to start doing some basic crafts with them - on a budget! Any ideas for things I should be saving and/or craft ideas for kids this age?

    Thanks!!

I keep egg cartons. There are some crafts that use them but I mostly use them for paint trays.

Popsicle sticks (a million uses), toilet paper rolls (the base for puppets, rain sticks) paper towel rolls (wands, swords), empty soda bottles (sand art), yogurt containers (storing little things, paint holders), old tshirts (tiedye), old socks (puppets). There are tons more, but that's all I can think of right now. What a fun age!

Thank you for posting this question! I've started to wonder about this myself! :)

We're big into stickers right now. I bought a small scrapbook album and take the pages out. We put stickers on them, then put them back into the book. The kids like to look through it and point at their artwork.

I have kept old oatmeal containers/lids, butter containers/lids and catalogs.
