craft ideas for 2yo's

my LO's dont spend much time drawing.
while i am home with them for 2 months, i would really like to expose them to lots of fun, new things. only 1 of them will sit and draw for about 2 minutes then they are off!

what are some craft ideas i can do with them? also, what brand(s) of finger paints do you mommies recommend?

 

Stamps made out of sponges
Stringing beads
Stickers
Paint with pudding
Paint with water sets
playdoh

 

Edible playdough! My two LOVE to do this. I especially love Marshmallow fondant and cake mix dough. There are also recipes for peanut butter doughs.

We also use sidewalk paint often. I use equal parts cornstarch and water and add food coloring (I add about 6-8 drops). I've never had it stain yet, but I do know that food coloring can stain, so just wear old clothes.

Summer is a great time to get messy outside with art

 

Oh where to start! Become a fan on FB, if you are on it, of Teach Preschool. Some pretty neat art ideas on there! One I plan on doing this summer with my kids, is to take some paint bottles(they used acrylic), and a bunch of canvas(you can find them at Michaels/ACMoore) and let them have at it in the backyard. I did this for my husband's birthday a couple years ago. But I actually had them "walk" across a couple a canvases after painting the background color. I still have to hang them in the den, but it came out really nice and was SO inexpensive (I got the canvases on clearance at michaels and the paints I used a coupon).

do you only do these outside?

 

I have done finger painting at the dinner table... with them strapped in their booster seats. I'm not brave enough since our play area is in our main dining/living rooms to let them "free" with paint on their hands...
