What works? She's had it since she was born. It has never completely gone away. It's just on the top part of her head, but it's bad. I could pick at it all day and not make a dent. I've tried a few things and nothing ever works. Any ideas? I can't believe she still has it. I assumed she'd outgrow it by now. Thanks!!!

I used something called Cradle Cap Care by Gentle Naturals - it's in a green bottle with Pooh on it? It worked on Jack.

Mine also still have it, though their hair covers it now, it's still there and I'm having trouble getting rid of it.

I have read that if you put olive oil on their scalp for 15-30 minutes before bath time, that will help soften it and make it easier to remove while scrubbing in the tub. Good luck!

I've also heard about using Olive Oil. Maybe I'll give it a try. I'll let you know if it helps.

My DS had cradle cap and ezcema and I switched his soap and lotion to Burts Bees and that helped him get rid of it. I also heard of olive oil and that was going to be my next step if BB did not work. Good luck and let us know how you make out!

Dh is grabbing the Gentle Naturals stuff on the way home. I'll try that and then if that doesn't work, I'll try the olive oil. I'll let you know which works better.

Dawn dish soap. It was the only thing that worked on my girls' cradle cap. Oil, special shampoos, none of that worked. Just don't get it in their eyes. GL!

I scrubbed after putting the gentle natural stuff on Royce. I took one of the baby toothbrushes and scrubbed. I did this pretty much 2x a week for about a month and it finally went away.

I used the same stuff. Put it on in the bath, then used a little baby brush to loosen the scales and then washed their hair.

Katie still has it in a spot. I put oil on her before a bath and a little after a bath.

The BEST stuff I have used is dandruff shampoo. I know you might think that it is a little harsh for their skin, but it clears it right up and I always followed it up w/ lotion and only used it occassionally. Our pediatrician recommended it when my oldest daughter was a newborn and I thought he was crazy.

Of course, you have to be very careful that it doesn't get in their eyes or mouth and you don't need to use a whole lot.

    Good Luck!

my pedi told me to use baby lotion - slather it in their hair and let soak in for a good half hour or so and then comb and wash hair - my DS had it ALL over his head and this worked!

I second the dandruff shampoo and our ped recommended it as DS had it so bad it covered his whole head, ears, and eyebrows! Went away and never came back!

Did it go away after the first time using the dandruff shampoo? I've used the dandruff shampoo and it didn't do anything. I finally got the Gentle Naturals stuff. I'm going to use it today. It was hard to find. I think I just need to be able to sit and pick at her head, but she won't let me. I'm hoping in the bath, she'll let me. We'll see what happens. I haven't done the olive oil yet. I wanted to avoid it, if I could. Hers is really bad. Very crusty and gross!

I usually see results quickly with the dandruff shampoo, but it doesn't totally go away. If she has it that bad it may take a couple of tries using it to notice a difference. You might also try putting it on her hair first and washing her body and then rinsing her hair to give it a little more time to activate.

Our ped recommended Nizoral. It is a dandruff shampoo and it worked great. We saw results after a couple of uses.

I used the Gentle Naturals tonight and I did see a difference. It's still there, so it will probably take a couple more times. I used a comb and scraped at it. I'm hoping it's gone soon. Her poor scalp was so red. I think I'll use dandruff shampoo for maintenance. Thanks for the help.
