I just wanted to share what worked with our son and his cradle crap...errr i mean cap! haha

We had tried everything with Ryan, all natural lotions, olive oil, crisco...(we wanted to avoid cortisone and any other 'chemically product' and nothing was working...his cradle cap covered his head, forhead, eyebrows and behind his ears. I felt so bad for him! His poor forhead was so dry it was cracking and bleeding!

Someone at work suggested "Californai Baby" "calendula cream...and with in 12hrs all his cradle crap is GONE!
It smells good, and is a really natural cream...

Just wanted to share something that really worked for us!

I wish I knew about that! The boys battled cradle cap (I called it crap too!) and I used to put mineral oil on it. It would leave their hair so greasy and gross. It also took about a week for it to clear up. Great find!

Calendula cream worked for Caleb too when nothing else would. Another recommendation!

I have to agree with this wholeheartedly!!

Ronan had cradle cap so bad our friends kept telling me they thought it was excema. On top of that, he kept rubbing at it until he'd get some little sores at his hairline. I tried special shampoo, oils, combing it with special combs and nothing worked. He kept losing hair in strange patterns, too. It was breaking my heart that I couldn't fix it. I took him to the doctor and she said that it was cradle cap and not excema and that we had to be even more careful about our laundry, washing not only all of his things in Dreft, but ours, too, since his head touches our clothing.

Anyway, I saw the CB calendula cream at Target so I bought it. Within a day of using it, it was already a lot better and within 2 days you couldn't even tell he had a problem other than his funky hairline.

Gosh, I sound like a commercial, but I am so happy I found this cream! Thanks for sharing about it, Specky. I should have, but didn't really think about it.

We just got back from the pedi, and it was funny the nurse was walking around with Ryan to let everyone "smell" him, because his cradle crap smells wonderful! LOL!!!
Glad it could help some of you!

I'm still battling cradle cap with the baby oil, but this post sounds great.
I have some Weleda brand Calendula Lotion. Would it work the same as that
other brand? Also when do you put on the lotion & how often?

Ohhhh, I wish that I knew about this a year ago. My twin sisters' son had it soooooooooo bad and he had it for months. Poor thing. She had to keep mittens on his hands too so he wouldn't scratch. She tried everything and nothing helped... IF it should happen with my babies I'll keep this in mind! Thanks!!!!

I had to do the mitten thing, too, and got a lot of flack from friends and family for it. They'd say, "he's too old for mittens; they're only for under 3 months!" or "he must not be comfortable with those mitts on..." so I'd take them off and then the poor little guy with get scratches all over his forehead! :(

Rebecca!! You are a rock star!! Thanks for recommending the California Baby lotion! Morgan had a TERRIBLE case of cradle crap and I used the lotion and after only one application, it is 100 times better! I think you should become a paid spokesperson for their product!!! :D

Be sure to let us know of any other good products out there!!!!!

Thanks for posting this! I picked some of that up the other day because one DS has VERY persistent cradle cap--I'll do the baby oil/comb/shampoo treatment at night and the cradle cap is back full-force by the next morning! :(
But there are no directions on the package for how to use it for cradle cap. Do you just rub it in? Do you comb it out or shampoo after or anything? Please clue me in! :) Also, if it smells good, is it safe for babies with eczema (which he also has)? Just wondering if its' hypoallergenic.

    Hi Amy ~

I just rubbed it on her head like lotion and didn't rinse it out or anything. Hope you have success!

OMG Jen you are soo funny...My husband was calling me "Becky-the Spider Hunter" this weekend, I should add my new status to my resume! hahaha

Yes, Amy, I just slathered it on and rubbed it in...it's awesome stuff!

It's actually marketed mainly for eczema. My friend uses it on her son's eczema and she likes it.

This cream has cured my son's 3-month stint of cradle cap. It's a great product and I would think it's hypoallergenic. All California Baby products are made from really fine ingredients and are very well rated by the Environmental Working Group.
