my little guy has dry skin and almost scabs all over his face and neck, we went to the dr this morning and he suggested baby oil, and perhaps some cortisone cream, anyone else with this? He also suggested that it could be from our bounce sheets from the dryer, so he suggested air drying everything. Like - how is that possible to take the time to air dry all the babies laundry when we have twins!!!
    Anyone have any other suggestions/tips??
    thanks

you might try some aquaphor & I would also wash in dreft with a second rinse and not use any dryer sheets. Hope he gets better soon.

    It's Baby Laundry Soap...

Aquaphor did the trick for my DD. I still have to use it from time to time around her eyebrows.

We never used Dreft. I just bought free and clear laundry detergent (any brand will do) and did a second rinse with all of our baby clothes. We never use fabric sheets either - they can definately irritate babies or even adults. Fabric sheets just coat clothes with wax and chemicals, so your babies could be reacting to them.

As for your baby's face, use cortisone like the PPs recommended. If you don't have a prescription, you can buy it over the counter - the 1% cream is what you use on babies, I think. Aquaphor on top of cortisone helped the eczema my girls had.

Dreft has perfume in it, too, and it's pricey. Just use a laundry detergent without perfumes - like All Free & Clear, etc. And then no dryer sheets OR find the unscented Bounce sheets. Target carries them. You don't need to air dry...sheesh, what was the Ped thinking?

We use free and clear detergent and no fabric softener sheets. We don't get as much static as I thought we would.

We used olive oil instead of baby oil on cradle cap and on the entire head for flakes. I think the scent in the baby oil gave my boy a rash. We've also used a half dozen different moisturisers and I've learned it's trial and error. Creams other mums swear by, might not do a thing.
    Ask your pharmacist for advice.
