All of a sudden DD has cradle cap again. She had a bit of it for a few weeks as a newborn, then nothing, then all of a sudden this morning I find those gummy yellow scales on her scalp. Ick.

Seems weird - I thought it was more of a newborn thing. Can they really get it at this age too?

Yes, my daughter had it at that age too. It was a pain. Her pedatrician told me to try a Dandruff Shampoo about once a week although check with your Ped. first because my daughter might have been closer to one when he told me that and obviously I don't want to give you any bad advice.

Head and Shoulders is ok to use. My ped recommended it to me when the babies were about 2 months. Just be careful of their eyes.

Mine still have it at almost 3! It's not so noticeable since they plenty of hair now, but it's still there. We were told we could use Dandruff shampoo, but I'm too scared to get it in their eyes. I just try to get as much of it off as I can with my fingernails when I'm washing their hair.

Mine are having a recurrence right now at 8 months. Thankfully they have hair so you can't see it, but I may try the head and shoulders shampoo.

Elizabeth still gets it behind her ears. I buy the gentle naturals cradle cap wash at Kroger. It has Winnie the Pooh on the bottle if that helps identify it! I think they have it at Target too. It really helps get rid of it!

Wow, I had no idea it was so common!

It seems better today - tried to wash/brush as much out as I could yesterday. I'll try Head & Shoulders or something if it doesn't go away... Thanks for the tips!

My girls still have it. I really haven't done much other than to scrub their heads a little in the bath and then after to remove as much as I can.

My girls had another bout of it around then too.

I just did what the pedi suggested the first time around...rubbed a little olive oil/vegetable oil on their heads, let it sit for a minute and then combed it out. Worked like a charm. I obviously did it right before a bath and then shampooed a couple of times.

Mine had it and Con still has a touch of it. I tried HEad and Shoulders once and got it in Chase's eye, which turned all red and he bawled, and I didn't go back again! I read you can just let it be and it should go away on its own, and for Chase it has, and like I said, Con just has a touch of it, and it's not scaly or anything, just little brown spots.

If you are worried about getting H&S in their eyes you can rub olive or mineral oil into their scalp, let it sit for as long as possible, comb out the flakes with a very fine toothed comb, then wash their hair with baby shampoo. Repeat as needed. Worked great for me for the youngest 3.
