Cozy coupes and other wheeled outdoor toys

We have a gravel driveway and a grassy yard -- no pavement except the road in front of our house. (The road is very quiet, but I still don't want my toddlers riding around on it!) I think they would really love something like a Cozy Coupe or other foot-powered vehicle, but can they go on grass at all? Or would it just be frustrating for them?

We have Cozy Coupes and mine manage to get them across the grass, but it does take some effort. I think since your girls are a bit younger than mine they might be a little frustrated at first. But eventually they would get the hang of it and be able to do it.

I would recommend something like this more than the Cozy Coupe. I think that the Cozy Coupe might be harder to push on gravel and grass. My girls had this one and they are lightweight. Also one of the reviews on TRU's website said "It was a gift for my 2 yr old daughter from her grandparents. She not only initially used it as a push toy in the house, but outside as well. We live in the country, and have dirt and rock yard, not concrete, and this toy held up for another two years. She enjoyed riding it all over the yard, then our son (at 1-1/2) started using it. This toy was the best." So, it's pretty durable too.

    Happy Shopping! :)

Hmmm, mine won't take the cozy coupes, or those cars that Michelle linked, on the grass. It is just too hard and they get frustrated too easily. We have the roller coaster that goes with those push cars and they push them on the grass, but don't ride them on the grass.

Mine are also older than yours, and they can't really move the Cozy Coupe around on the grass, but Elliot especially loves to just hang out in it. They also love to be pushed around in it, and it's not too hard on my back because the top of it comes up so high. They love to have one riding in the car and the other helping me push it around the yard. Don't know about gravel though.

Thanks -- we have something like what Michelle posted (in fact I often recommend it to people looking for push toys for their new walkers -- but I could never find a picture of it!), and they do take it outside occasionally, but seem to get annoyed when they hit a bump. (Our backyard is very bumpy -- it needs to be re-graded.)

They actually don't ride their ride-on toys very much at all yet -- mostly they just push them. But I think this is partly for lack of space in our house. They love it when I push them around the living room/kitchen, but there are a lot of sharp turns to get around all the furniture, and they can't quite manage the turns when they're doing the "driving."

I guess I will hold off on this for awhile, at least until we get the yard flattened out. Thanks for the feedback.

Mine can't get theirs anywhere around the backyard unless they are pushing backwards. They hardly ever go in them. Which is a bummer when you consider they were an $80 investment.

We used ours in grass and never had issues.

We have the Radio Flyer scoot bikes and they take them all over the sloped & bumpy yard. We have no pavement anywhere except in the garage but they manage just fine. They'll get off and lift them onto the deck so they can speed around sometimes or walk lifting the bike under them or walk behind and push it to go up hills. At first, they wouldn't use them outside because they'd get so frustrated but as soon as their legs were long enough that they could lift the bike to get over rocks and bumps they were hooked.
