MY DOCTOR'S OFFICE JUST CALLED WITH THE RESULTS OF MY ULTRASOUND..... I guess it wasn't s rosy as I first thought. My little girl stopped growing. But my little boy who was the smaller one is growing just fine. I am soooooooo scared. I have been crying non stop since they called. My doctor told me I have to quit work and take partial bed rest on my left side. They said to lay around and be lazy as much as possible and eat more if I can. They said conserve all my energy for the babies.

I JUST NEED SOME ADVICE FROM OTHER'S WHO HAVE BEEN THROUGH THIS OR UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON.

I am so scared and have been praying that my little girl will start growing. I had the same problem with my first pregnancy. But the doctor said becasue it's twins and one is growing and the other isn't that it is a differnent game all together.

Any help at all would be great. Daddy is trying to console me. He broguht me a rose and some fruit and veggies while I was in bed.

    How many weeks are you?
We went through this exact thing. I found out when I was 27.6 weeks pregnant that Annika was not growing as she should be. Both babies were falling behind. We weren't exactly sure what the problem was (apart from IUGR) but later realized it was probably TTTS (never 100% sure, though).
I was monitered biweekly at the peri, and weekly at the OB until 30 wks, then 2ce weekly NSTs and u/s.

It was so frightening; every appt I was scared for Annika (baby B). Every week they said "Looks fairly stable, but we might have to take them next week." So I went for 8 wks never knowing when we'd have to deliver.

Please read my website/blog; my journal entries tell the story. As you can see, all turned out well adn my little Annika is perfectly healthy and wonderful. There are several other ladies on TS who went through the same thing, including Akameme.

Please think positive and follow your doctors advise; stay off your feet, drink as much Ensure/Boost as you can stomach!!

If you need ot PM me, I'm happy to correspond. :hug99:

Each cord has three vessels. I watched him count. Unless the sonographer was trying not to freak me out. I want to actually see the results and have them go over them eith me. My heart dropped when I saw on my phone that is was the doctor's office calling. At that point my heart alreayd sank. They never call unless something is wrong.

I'm on bedrest right now for both TTTS and 2 vessel cord in one of my babies. I've been on bedrest for 10 weeks now and they have grown on their own growth curve which is great, and everything else is stable. However, I'm on bedrest and I drink 3 High Protein Boost drinks slowly per day. Get protein in your diet and rest - all the blood and energy should go to the babies. It has worked for me so far. I know at some point one of ours will stop growing, or the growth difference will get bigger, but now because of these things it is holding stable.

If I were you, I'd put yourself on strict bedrest and up your protein/calorie intake. Also, drink lots of water, of course.

    Keep us posted!

I noticed a couple of you mentioned 2 vessel cord

I remember them telling me that one of my girls had a 2 vessel cord, and had actually forgotten about it. What does that mean or cause problems with?? My girls are now 4 so I'm assuming nothing from it

    amanda

hopefully it is ok to put this here, or shud I have done another posting??

    Hi,
I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this. As Sara says Baby B, Jake, was diagnosed as IUGR in week 24. I was put on modified bedrest, told to EAT EAT EAT. I also had high blood pressure.

I was seeing her weekly at that point, and she was doing growth u/s every two weeks. As long as Jake showed growth, she would keep me pregnant. He grew on his own curve, so that was reassuring and we made it to 36 weeks. I got the steriod shots at 27 (?) weeks and started NSTs at 28 weeks. She also sent me for a doppler study and to check the cords, all of which was fine.

I will tell you this, Jake was much smaller than we thought he would be based on my last growth u/s, but making it to 36 weeks was key. Since you have been through this before, you know it's a balancing act b/t gestation and making sure the babies get enough calories.

Hang in there and I would get the steriod shots to be safe. Also the NSTs will let your dr know if your babies are doing well, Jake always was in good shape and showed no signs of distress.

Hang in there and PM me with any questions,
    Miriam
