I was just curious as to what everyone uses to cover their babies at night and how old their babies are. I am attempting to set up a poll for the first time, so, if it doesn't work, feel free to answer the question anyway!
    Thanks! :)

Mine are almost 4 months and i like to have them in a onesie and a sleep sack the best. however i will do a sleeper(warm one) or swaddle them if the sleep sacks are not clean. I dont like blankets being in the cribs just yet.

I wasn't sure how to vote in your poll, since mine are already over 1 yr, but FWIW... ours were swaddled (with lightweight cotton footie sleepers underneath) until about 4-5 months, then we switched to sleepsacks with sleepers underneath. We have some cotton ones and some fleece, but we keep our house cool at night in the summer too, so we use them interchangeably. If it's really humid and we can't get the house as cool, we put them in onesies under their sleep sacks.

I always feel guilty about putting blankets in there, but they just will not sleep as well without being so cozy and warm.

Ever since my girls came home from the NICU they have always slept covered with a blanket...

You should add a 'other' option to your poll for moms with toddlers ;)

I always put them in sleeper when sleeping. Until they were 5-6 months I dressed them appropriately, then began using a blanket.

The girls used sleepsacks from about 2 months old (when they outgrew the swaddle) until about 11 months. They have toddler sleepsacks now. Dax is 5 months old and he uses a sleepsack as well and has since birth. He has recently taken to rubbing a receiving blanket on his face while falling asleep so he has that too.

I always put them in a sleeper (either cotton or fleece) until about 6 mos and then I gave DD a blanket for the first time for security more than warmth and she's slept with one ever since...DS didn't get one (only cuz he never needed it the little furnace that he is) until about 8-9 mos and again that was more for security than anything.

I voted other, because we use a baby swaddler.

I swaddled for the first month, then went to the sleepsack and now I am using light blankets and they wear onsies to bed as the temp is fairly warm b/c we are in a second story apartment (the air conditioners are on of course). Using a sleepsack was great but they got too hot w/ two layers on for now and I personally don't like the idea of sleeveless stuff to sleep in, I will go back to the sleepsack and the onsies/pj's when it gets cooler, they are great b/c you know they can't kick it off or get it near their face as that is a constant fear of mine and I am always checking to see if they have moved the blankets (through the video monitor of course I am not THAT crazy to get up out of bed unless I absolutely have to.

I swaddled mine until 4 months. Since then it's a sleeper, onesie and a receiving blanket just barely covering the top of their legs. Soon as they start rolling over, I'll probably stop giving them a blanket for a while.

when mine were younger (they are going on 2 now) we used pj's, the sleep sacks and blankets.

.........I have never understand how adults can put on pj's, crawl into their own beds, cover up with a sheet, a blanket or two, and a comforter..........leave their baby in just pj's and/or a swaddled blanket?!?!?!?!?! It makes no sence to me how that baby is not going to be cold?!?!?! If the parents want to see what it is like, try it for a night, you will wake up FREEZING no matter how warm the room is (betch ya) :umm: but yet, people expect their children to do it every night.

oh how I struggle with this! We have an older house and the upstairs (where the bedrooms are) gets AWFULLY hot, and I've read over heating a baby can be a SIDS risk, so I do tend to err on the side of them being cold (oh, I know, I feel terrible.... ) :( but for now, at least I'll do a onesie w/ cotton pants and socks, OR a onesie w/ their sleep sack, OR a lightweight cotton long sleeved sleeper. They often feel sweaty under their backs even with just that, so I never know. I also leave the fan on since I've read that air circulation is better SIDS prevention too. I don't know what I'll do come winter when they're supposed to be bundled more- maybe by then they'll be older and I won't worry so much.

I didn't vote in the poll because my twins are older but I have had them swaddled when they were little until 4 months and after that they always had a blanket when they slept, actually two.

I voted nothing - dress appropriately because that is what we do now - footed sleepers... We swaddled until they were 6 mosths old - they were in footed jammies, miracle blankets & if they were sleeping in a snugglenest a blanket on top.

I dress mine appropriately. I had swaddled my one girl (she was colic-y) until she didn't like it anymore. My other girl never liked to have anything on her. The couple of times I swaddled her, she would bust herself out of there -- almost in a panic -- and then sleep sound when it was off her.

I never gave them blankets because the one time I gave my swaddle-hating daughter a baby blanket for a nap, I walked in about an hour later to check on them and it was WRAPPED AROUND HER HEAD! Her whole head and face was covered. Scared me half to death. Now it was a baby blanket, so I'm sure they make them so that should things like that happen, they'll be fine. But there are far few things scarier than walking into a room and finding an infant with anything wrapped around her head.

Not sure what I will do come the winter months. I do find that when they are in warm, footed pajams now (summer time), they are sweating sometimes in the night. We have the air conditioner on just outside their room, so it is cool in there. I just think they are like their mommy and daddy and will always be warm.

We swaddled for the first week and then learned they wanted their arms up and their legs loose and shockingly slept better unswaddled (they also liked to migrate around the crib in their sleep -- who knew newborns could move around so much?!). Some babies are just weird like that. So, I switched to sleep sacks and they were happy. I now allow them a waffle weave blanket with a satin edge to snuggle but they still move around too much to sleep under a blanket and so we're still using sacks. Besides, the sacks help to slow down the "stripping naked at naptime to poop in the crib" game... ;)
