    Hello Everyone,

Please give me some very honest opinions - and quick, if you can!

We have decided to name our girl twin Nadia Aaliyah. We are considering Nadir for her brother. Two questions:

1.) Is it too weird and twinny that the names are so similar?

2.) Does Nadir sound too "foreign"? We love it, but my mom is afraid he'll come across prejudice. I want to embrace my husband's Moroccan culture while avoiding any undue prejudice against him. :) I hope you all understand what I mean.

By all means, please be blatantly honest! If you have a rocking Arabic boy's name for us, please speak up! Other names under consideration are Laith, Kahlil, Faris, and Sofian.

Honestly, to me Nadir does sound too foreign. I have a cousin whose father is arabic and his name is Nadeem. Once he turned 18 he legally had it changed to Nathan because it he wanted a more "american" sounding name.

Out of the other names you are considering I like Faris and Laith the best. Good luck!

    Hi

It honestly won't matter what you name him because if he looks Moroccan, he can still have issues. If it is a name that you both like and it fits him, I say go for it. Just raise him to be proud of his heritage(s) and the rest you will deal with when it comes. Just my two cents!

I like the names individually, but think they are too similar for twins IMHO. I like Faris and Sofian.

I think the two names are too similar - only one letter different. I like all the names you mention, but I'd be afraid there'd be a lot of confusion with Sofian - people thinking it was Sofia, so I'd probably go with one of the others.

    -Rachel

p.s. - Clarissa came very close to being named Nadia. I love that name!

I think they are too twinny sounding, but that is just me!!!

I love that you are trying to stay with your heritage!! I would go with Laith or Kahlil (one of the girls has a Dr neamed Kahlil and I really think he is great!!).

You could always give him a more traditional middle name and if he wants he can go by that....but I think both names are just fine (in fact I love Nadia!!), I don't think there is anything wrong with going with a heritage name. One of my girls is 1/4 Italian and we went with the traditional Italian spelling (Emelia) instead of Amelia- which is more English.

I don't like Nadir, but i've heard of some people naming b/g twins Nadia and Aidan(Nadia backwards!), that is cute!!!

Agree with others Nadia and Nadir are too twinny for my liking. I loved Kahil when you were leaning in that direction. I like the suggestion of Nadia and Aiden also. What about Aidan Kahil. Also agree with the confusion with Sofiian. Laith and Faris are possibilities.

    yes and yes.

i like laith, but the others also sound very foreign compared to more common nadia....like candyctwins idea of aidan, how about aidan nadir?

    Thanks everyone for the input.

We went with Nadia and Layth. I would have loved to have gone with Nadia and Aidan, but we really wanted to have a heritage name - my husband thought it sounded too much like a little Irishman. :)

    I like Faris

    Bueller, Bueller, Bueller.

I guess you had to be a kid of the 80s to get that one. Faris would have gotten him teased also.
