Could she have a yeast infection?

My little Mikayla has been playing "down there" a lot lately. She has been rubbing herself and riding on her stuffed animals, pillows and everything. Tonight in the bath she was really digging in down there. It doesn't look like she has a rash, but her ****** area looks pretty red. I know that I was susceptible to yeast infections my whole life. Could it be that?

it could be. Does she sit in soapy/bubbly water at all?

Also, it seems weird, but it's pretty normal for them to rub there.
I hear about it here once in a while adn my niece did it and it bothered my sister to no end!
    She outgrew it pretty quickly.

If she's red down there between her labia, then put a little OTC yeast meds down there a few times and that will clear it up quickly. We've had minor issues since birth and that clears it up with one or two applications of the external medicine (monistat or whatever).

They also rub there because it feels good, could be just that too......

Hi, did you change their baby wash / soap brand? Maybe it burns her dowm there.

You can treat it with OTC miconazole 2% ( Monistat 7 ). You would use the cream that you would typically insert into the applicators, externally on her or just within her labia. That would take care of any itching she may be having as well as any rash that may be trying to form as a result of a fungal infection. Apply it generously after each diaper change. Change her soap to something very mild like Aveeno or even just plain baking soda in her bath water and no soap for a few days, as well as no powders, and no bubble baths for a few days either. Consult with your pedi too but they may want you to bring her in to have a look at it. Otherwise, I would try this maybe for a few days and if it gets worse OR doesn't get better take her in to see the pedi. Good luck!

I remember when I was a young child every once in a while I would itch down there. I always put Vaseline on it before I went to bed and it was fine the next morning. Not sure if it was a yeast infection or just irritated, either way it never last very long. I hope it gets better soon.
