OK, so the first day of school for my daughter. Isn't this supposed to be a wonderful and pivotal moment in their lives and hey mine too right. Well, memorable it was!!!

I live in a house that has a LONG driveway. When I say long I am talking a good quarter of a mile long. So. I get up go to the gym and get home at 7:30 to get her ready to be at the end of the drive by 8:05. Bus comes at 8:10. Well, the babies eat at 8. So I was like hmmmm, how are we going to do this. Luckily my bubbies can hold a bottle on their own now so no problem, I will just strap them into the car seats and walk her down while they have their bottle. I will get back and feed them their solids right after. Sound like a good plan right?
Well, I get down there with my daughter and we are both dancing and excitedly singing and being silly, and buses keep passing by. Time keeps going and it's WAY after 8:10, but what am I going to do? Have to wait because if I leave the bus could come and then she misses it. So now she is getting crabby and I am like OK what the heck, but I am considering that since its the first day of school I will give them some time.
Well at some point I realize its just getting crazy but silly me, I never brought my phone or anything down because I wasn't counting on this happening. I decide to tell her to stand back about 10 feet from the road and not to move while I run and check on strapped in babies who I am sure at this point are in the worst stages of screaming that we all know about. I am worried if we go together the bus will for sure come. Well, I am also frightened to leave my little girl at the end of the drive all alone. As I said its a LONG drive and it cuts through forest so you can't even see the road or her after you turn the first corner. So I haul it to the house and see that its has been 40 minutes!!!! And school as already started. I can see my poor little man has been crying but stopped and he looks so relieved to see me. I run out of the house and he starts screaming again. AHHHH I run till I can see her, yell for her to come back and go inside to call the school. Now I have to pack up the babes, who by the way have not had their full breakfast and get everyone in the car. I have an apt in 20 minutes. My hair is wet, the babies are angry, my daughter is upset. I am about ready to kill me a bus driver.
Then we get to the school and I am such a dork as I put my son in the stroller first. Well, its a Phil and Teds where one is stacked on top of the other and without the weight in the front it can easily topple over. I am getting DD out and I hear an Oh NO, my daughter knocked the stroller over with DS in it. I say "Haven't' I told you not to mess with the stroller" ( she has a habit of hanging on it) before realizing that it was my fault not hers but she is already sobbing, and I feel horrible that I (and the bus driver) have ruined her first day. I am ready to have a scream fit, but quickly regain composure for her sake. We go inside and I calmly (thought I really want to jump someone) ask what happened. They explain there was a guest bus driver. Guest Bus driver? On the first day? Who was smoking something when that decision was made? I tell them not to put her on the bus home that there is no way I am trusting she will get home and please fix this so it doesn't happen again.
I make it to my apt, but by the time its over I have to zoom back to school. I go in only to find a bunch of kids waiting for the parents, none of whom are my daughter. I am freaking out and find out she has been put on the bus. ARE YOU SERIOUS. At this point I have had the twins in and out of car seats 9 times. I am just at a point where I want to start a fire. I tell them I will follow the bus. By the time I get out and get twins in car the bus in gone and I can't find it. So I go home and sit in my driveway for an hour!! I am panicked!! Finally she comes home. I can't believe this was my first day of K. Holy craziness, I need a glass of wine and its only 1.

I am sure they will be fine. :) I know the younger they are the greater precaution that is taken. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Holly first day of school - that sounds crazy! Sounds like you handled yourself very well, I may have had a fit somewhere along that trip!

The second day had to have gone better!!?? Right??

We shall see. Tomorrow will be her next day. She goes two full days and a half day. DH called the transportation center to get it all straightened out. He is the most diplomatic and kind spoken person there is, so he is the one to call. I was to irritated about it to call them. :)
