I am trading my van in for a car. Hated the minivan. It was hard for me to judge distances in parking lots etc. I know that someone has posted on here about slim carseats. What is the best ones and the slimest ones?

I have no suggestions other than what NOT to get. We have the Britax Boulevards & the Evenflo Triumph Advance, neither of which fit in our car or minivan well when installed rear-facing. I'm sure they'll be better once they're turned around, but for now, it's a tight squeeze!!! GL on finding 2 convertible seats to fit rear facing in a car!!!!

    Hi there!
We have a very small SUV (Honda CRV), and we went with the Britax Roundabouts. They fit fine rear-facing. I had my heart set on convertible seats with higher weight limits, but those seats were taller and wouldn't fit in the rear-facing position unless we wanted to hug the steering wheel for the next 6-7 months. No thanks!

We love our Roundabouts so I'm really glad we got them now. The best part: it is super easy to adjust the straps, so we don't have to remember which seat is DS's and which is DD's. The straps adjust with the press of a little button. They are also very cushy and comfy for the cherubs.

Note that these are not "slim"--there is no way you'd be able to fit more than 2 in the back seat, and there is no room for even a skinny person to sit between the kiddos. The only "slim" carseats I've heard of are the Radian ones, and we tried those in our car and they did not fit AT ALL in the rear-facing position... they are very tall.

My best advice: look online and pick out 3-4 different seats that you like best, then go to the store, and try them in your car.

    Good Luck!

I have 2 graco comforsports in my car with no problem. We could even fit someone between the kiddos if we installed them with the belts and not the latches. Of course we are using the latches, but we still have quite a bit of space.

The kids are very comfortable in them. We actually took the kids to the store and tried them in all the seats in our price range. After we narrowed it down to 2, we tried them in our car. The Graco ones worked best by far.

The slimmest carseats out there that I know of are the Radians. I have one and we will have to buy two more to fit three across in my Durango when the girls get old enough to go forward facing. They say they fit "most" cars three across. Good Luck!

No advice, just curious as to replies, I have a teeny tiny Toyota Corrolla and shudder at the thought of having to fit 2 rear facing convertible seats, it was hard enough to find infant seats that fit, and even now the passenger is hugging the dashboard!!

If you have your new car, take it to the store and ask to take the car seats on display out and put them in your car. I see people at the BRU doing that all the time. Or else take the car you think you are going to buy for a test drive to your local store and try them out. You wouldn't even have to buy the car seats then, but at least it would give you an idea of what works and what won't.

I tried the Evenflo Advance LX for the twins, but could not fit them in the back of my Tahoe with my older DD's car seat as well. She has the Graco Comfortsport from several years ago. We ended up with the Evenflo Titans. I like them, but we aren't using them on a regular basis yet, I prefer to keep them in the infant seats as long as possible or at least until the weather turns a little.

As far as being slim, the Radian 80 is very slim. We have 2 installed in our backseat (of a honda pilot) and i can still sit in between the seats. They are tall though, so it's a bit tight in the front seat ... but the car seats are GREAT! They are one of the best out there, and they are the ONLY convertible carseat that goes all the way up to 80lbs in a 5 point harness. And our kids seem to love them. I am definitely looking forward to when they go forward facing though, so i can get a little leg room back in the front seat!
