Convertible car seats for Toyota RAV4?

Albee Baby is having closeout sales on several items including some convertible car seats. So I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead and buy two now and save $30+ per seat. Currently we use Graco Snugride infant carriers, and I loathe them mainly because it is a huge pain to tighten and untighten the straps. Also their bases are quite wide so neither myself or my husband can fit in between the bases to ride in the backseat with the babies on road trips. However, there is jussssst barely enough room in our 2000 Camry for one of us to ride in the backseat with the boys, but we prefer to travel with the RAV4. So when we purchase a convertible car seat we are hoping we can find one that will fit a little better in our RAV4 (while also providing outstanding safety!).

Anyway I was wondering if anybody knows if there are convertible car seats that would fit in the back of a 2008 RAV4 and still have just enough room for somebody to sit between them? I figure if nobody here has a RAV4 with car seats maybe they know somebody that does :) So far I've been looking at Britax Roundabouts and Marathons as well as Evenflo Triumphs. And btw, whenever I try to use www.carseatdata.org to search for car seats for my RAV4 it always comes back and says "No results were found," grrr.

    Thanks in advance!

Well I'll be darned. As soon as I made my post above I continued to read through some old TS posts (I had already read several after doing a search before making this post) and see that somebody posted the following helpful link to carseats.org which gives measurements of car seats. I guess now I just need to break out the measure tape and see how these widths compare to the width of the Snugride bases :)

I have a Rav-4 (2004) and could not find any carseats that would allow another person to fit in between them :(
We went with the Britax Marathons & there is BARELY any room inbetween the 2 seats, my girls can hand things to each other with ease.
We also have Graco convertible car seats in our larger truck (Ford Crew Cab F150) and with the cupholders that are attached (dont come off!) there is only room for a small person to sit in between the 2 seats.
    Good luck!! :good:

I have a Rav 4 too and have the Evenflo Triumph Advance seats. DH didn't like them rearfacing b/c he couldn't recline the seat the way he wanted (he's 6ft) but I loved them. We just turned them forward facing a few weeks ago and it's still a tight fit. Until they are able to bend their legs, we will be kicked a ton! They are super easy to adjust the straps which was a big selling point for me. Really easy to install too. Do you have a Babies R Us near you? You can actually test them in your car then say "I've got to discuss it with my husband" then buy it online! :)
