So over the weekend I started experiencing some very bad lower back pain it worried me cause it was the same pain I was feeling when I went into labor with my son by yesterday morning my contractions had started and by the time i got to the hospital and got hooked up to everything they were 15 min apart. I got a shot to stop them right away and they did. I was sent home but now i am extremely worried I feel like my water could break at any moment. I am still having a few contractions here and there. How much longer should i expect to be able to hang in there? I am only 25 weeks along

Sorry to hear you're having issues, it's a very scary time for you. I landed in the hospital at 23w2d with PROM and was expected to deliver within 24-48hrs. That was 38 days ago, I'm now 28w4d and still hanging in! You never know what will happen and it's hard playing the waiting game but you really do have a good chance of hanging in there. Rest as much as you can, take good care of yourself and keep thinking positive. :)

Rest, rest, rest....as hard as it is. Surround yourself with positive people. I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted.

My contractions started at 24 weeks and I made it until 36 weeks 5 days. So you can make it much longer. I was on terbutaline most of the time, and eventually on bedrest but I still made it long enough that both babies were ok.

Anything can happen, so try to remain positive. I went into the hospital at 29 weeks because my contractions were 3 minutes apart for 4 hours. I was in the hospital for 3 days, and then they sent me home on home-rest. I was so worried I was going to deliver pre-term, and each week that has passed is a miracle. I am now 36 weeks along. In the last 7 weeks, I say I have anywhere from 4-10 contractions an hour. My doctors told me that I need to call when they become regular intervals apart (like at 29 weeks), but they are not regular at all. Thank goodness. I scheduled my birth today for 38 weeks. I have 15 days left. Stay positive. Anything can happen. Hopefully, this "anything" is that every day you will make it one more day and then one more week, etc. GOOD LUCK!

This is one of my bigger concerns for our future newborns. I'm (obviously by the name :p ) not female, nor have I had to worry about this in general before so I can't really offer much but I just thought I'd stop by and wish you luck. I'm sure everything will work out for you. Good luck ! :good:

I started with contractions at 18 weeks. By 26 weeks, they started making changes to my cervix, so I was placed on bedrest at that time. It seems like with each passing week, I was dilating and effacing more. Then all of a sudden, it stopped. And my cervix remained exactly the same.

In the end, I was taken off of bedrest and terbutaline at 36 weeks exactly, and we thought the babies would come shortly thereafter. But they actually hung on for another 9 days!! So it is possible! Just keep resting!

I also went into L&D with early contractions. Our stories sound similar. I went in on May 3rd at 24w1d and have been home on bedrest for the last 3 weeks on brethine and bedrest. The periodic contraction I have stress me out to no end, but I try to tell myself that if I relax and stay fairly inactive then maybe it will be fine. It seems like lots of people here have gone pretty far, so I try to tak encouragement from that.
    good luck!

I am having the same thing and am 25 weeks tomorrow. They stopped them with meds yesterday and sent me home for bedrest. I have an appt tomorrow at 8 am wiht OB to find out what we do next. I went from 1-3 contractions a day over the last month to about 5 an hour and now down to at least one every 2 hours. All this started when I registered for baby stuff on Saturday and spent two hours walking in that store. So, Babies R Us is NOT good for babies. Yesterday my cervix still looked long, but my preterm labor test (not sure of the name) was positive.
