I am 31 weeks with mono-di twins. Is it too early to be having contractions? I don't have them every day, but sometimes I have 3 or 4 in a day. Is this normal? Typically does someone who has early contraction deliver early or can I expect this to go on for a while?

    Thanks!

I have been having BH since 18 weeks. I am also 31 weeks and have contractions more than what you are describing. My cervix is shortening but I am not dilated. My Dr. says with twins it is very common to contract more. He says more than 6 in an hour to lay down drink water, if they continue to go to L&D. You may want to ask your Dr what his/her guidelines are. Good Luck!

I just responded to a similar post about 2 mins ago. I started with BH at 18 weeks, and went into PTL at 24 weeks. I was 2 cm dialated and 60% effaced. I have mono/di boys. I went into PTL 5 times before the boys were born at 37 weeks. So it could mean that you'll have them early or it could mean you'll have them for the next 6 weeks or so.

I had PTL for 3 months with my twins... From August to October when I had them... It could still be awhile yet before you have them! Just go in and talk to your doctor about it and see what to do!

I would think the only way to really know is by having a vaginal exam. When I had my last ultrasound I asked if my cervix was still closed and the US tech said she can only tell the length from an abdominal US and the only way to tell if it is dilating is vaginally. Have you been checked lately? If you haven't, I would ask about a vaginal exam.
