im having a lot of cramping today and contractions. i had a day on my feet yesterday and was moving around all day and night.

could that be why im cramping/contracting?

Over doing it can bring on more contractions. I would drink a ton of water, lay on your left side and do nothing for the rest of the evening. Those babies need to keep cookin'! Every day in you is three less days in the NICU.

Are you timing/counting them? The increased activity could definitely cause and increase in contractions. If you are worried, I would suggest heading to L/D to be monitored.

About 2 hrs before my water broke I thought I had heartburn and gas. Soon after I was able to feel the actual contractions. It couldn't hurt to go to L&D. Have you been before? Is there an on call OB you can contact? That's where I would start!

I would go in to be monitored for anything that feels like period cramps.

I've been waking up the past 3 nights in a row with either a dull cramp ache or actual braxton hicks. I'm fine and they go away when I get up and move... I see the Peri on Wednesday... I'm hoping it's pretty normal at this point.

i did not call my OB.
i laid down and have drank 3.5 liters of water. the cramping and contractions have subsided. i am still swollen but feeling a bit better. they are not coming as often as they were.

I ended up in labor and delivery last Sunday because I felt the same way. My DH made me call the doctor and the OB wanted me to come down immediately because if I was having contractions from dehydration then it needed to be stopped before I went into labor. Once they put in an IV I felt better really quickly.

what you want to time is from the start of one contraction/cramping to the start of the next contraction/cramping. that will tell you how many minutes apart they are. i found it hard to tell in early labour as the pain i was feeling was a fairly constant, period-like achy feeling. it did seem to ebb & flow a bit but i really had to pay attention.

if you want to get really fancy, you can time the length of the actual contaction itself as well - in early labour, they usually last aprox 45 sec. as you move into active labour & then transition, they usually last aprox 90 sec.

glad to hear things have calmed down! don't hesitate to go in & get checked out though if you have any concerns.
