    Hi, gals,

I've been putzing around the house all night nesting and cleaning, and started noticing my uterus tightening somewhat regularly. So I would glance at the clock and just see. It seemed the contractions (still not sure if just Braxton Hicks, but hey) were coming every 20 mins, then 15, then about an hour later, every 10. DH was in the other room painting the stairwell wall. By the time I was thinking they might be coming every 5 mins or so, I decided to actually write them down.

I started logging a little over an hour ago, and they were coming every 3 minutes or so, now down to 2. =O) I even feel a little twinge of butterflies in my stomach now and then, and some slight sensations in my bottom. I'm excited that this might be it, but don't want to get too riled up, in case once I finally lie down they go away. I'm off to take a shower, then go to sleep, and see if I wake up with my water breaking soon! (It's 2:15 a.m.; both previous pregnancies I was asleep when water broke at 4 a.m.)

    Just thought I'd share. =O)

Good luck!! I miss those 'twinges!' I'm a funny sort! They did keep me up all night though.

OK, here's an update: All day Sunday ... NOTHING but occasional BH. Very disappointing. But tonight my water just broke at 1 a.m., and the contractions are coming strong. We're going to get to meet this baby today!!! Woo hoo! My doula friend is on her way, and my sister is already here from GA (arrived last evening).

I should be able to report actual baby details in my next update. =O)

OK, I haven't processed or journaled a detailed birth story yet, but here's a brief version...

    -----
We are happy to report that our new baby BOY was born Monday morning, August 18, 2008, 10 days early. We named him Sergio Joseph, after dh's Italian maternal grandfather and my maternal grandfather. You pronounce it in two syllables -- "SARE-Joe", like it would rhyme with CHAIR-Joe, and if you're really good, you roll the R a bit. =O)

Sergio has lots of blond hair, and so far his eyes are blue. He weighed 7 pounds 1 ounce and was 19 3/4 inches long. He is super mellow and happy and is nursing wonderfully well.

Labor was harder than for the twins, but not as long and hard as for Nicolas. I had mild contractions Saturday night but nothing all day Sunday. (God's perfect timing of it all provided for my sister to fly out from Georgia to attend the birth, and for our doctor to fly back from being in Virginia. Turns out they were both on the same flight into Phoenix Sunday evening!) My water broke at 1 a.m. Monday morning. We arrived at the hospital around 3:30 a.m., and the baby was born naturally without complications at 7:14 a.m. We checked out Tuesday after lunch and are home now catching up on rest.

Big brothers Nicolas and William and big sister McKenna are thrilled and adoring their new little brother.
