I am just thinking ahead a bit...I currently wear contact lenses, but have back-up glasses. The prescription isn't correct and would need to be made a lot stronger if I was to wear them instead of my contacts. I will likely need to have glasses instead of contacts for L&D, correct??

I have contacts and left them in during my c-section. My sister had a regular delivery and wore her contacts as well. I did update my prescription for my glasses right before they were born. Previous to their arrival, I never wore my glasses. However, I did find them extremely helpful during those late night feelings. FYI- I have heard that your eyesight may change during pregnancy. I believe mine did a little.

I wore my contacts during L&D. I would suggest having a travel size solution and case in your bag. I forgot that last time and had them in for about 30 hours. I used my glasses alot more after coming home.

I was unable to wear my contacts during my c-section and found my glasses to be very useful once home!

I wore my glasses for each of mine. You just never know how long it will be, etc. I was more comfortable that way.

For my oldest DD I wore my contacts for her delivery. And in the hospital, I just made sure I had solution and cleaner to use in bed. For Trevor with the c-section I was in the hospital for 10 days and was not allowed out of my bed for anything, so I wore my glasses during that time. I am not sure if they would let you wear contact during a c-section as it is considered surgery.

After my c-section, once I was able to get out of bed I did wear my contacts, but had my glasses there to pump during the night.

I had my contacts in for both L&D with DD1 and the c/s with the twins. I just brought solution etc to the hospital because I'm not comfortable in them for long periods. I wanted the contacts for the surgery adn the delivery so I wouldn't be bothered by glasses while "concentrating."

It states in my pre-op paperwork to come to the hospital with glasses rather than having contacts in. I wore my glasses for both of my previous c-sections as well.

I wore my contacts during the c-section. I also found glasses to be very helpful during those early days of round the clock feeding. FWIW, my prescription and contact lens size changed during pregnancy and then changed back after delivery! I wouldn't spend a ton on glasses purchased now anyway because the babies will grab at them but having a pair you can wear comfortably would be a good idea.

I would go ahead and get new glasses - I ended up wearing a bad prescription until last week. I couldn't wear my contacts during the c-sect and found the glasses easier while in the hospital the next few days as well. I also am having serious dry eye issues with pumping and not sleeping and wear my glasses almost exclusively right now. It's nice to have the new ones where I can actually see - I really wish I had thought to get new ones ahead of time.

I was also able to keep my contacts on during L&D. I just made sure I has solution in my Hospital Bag and eye drops too. :D

I had to go back and look at pictures..........I had my contacts on obviously, because I am as blind as a bat and was not wearing glasses in pictures!

I did wear glasses while there though. But once I was feeling somewhat mobile, I put my contacts back in. I wore my glasses at home a lot in the beginning because I can't wear them comfortably on little sleep. If you can, get some new glasses ahead of time. But they do say that your prescrip can change due to pregnancy.

I didn't have a c-section, but was never told to bring glasses instead. I wear my contacts 24/7 and know I would have goten a headache if I had to wear my glasses, the script is old

Both the hospital I delivered my girls at(vaginal/c-section delivery) and the hospital I had my gallbladder surgery at did not allow contacts to be worn during surgeies. My OB told me to wear glasses when I came in to be induced so there would be no issues if we ended up needing a c-section.
