Okay I know that is not the most fun subject, but I do need some help. I feel like I need to go, but then nothing.. My stomach is killing me, lots of gurgling and then the pains of having tons of gas. If I do get to go it is so minimal you can't really say I went. Sorry I just wanted to know if any of you are having this trouble? I didn't have this problem with my other pregnancies. Should I be eating something that will help? I drink fluids (probably not as much as I should) I am eating mostly veggies right now as most meats don't even appeal to me.

I was going to post something about this tonight too! I have the same problem. I've taken colace a few times but it doesn't seem to help. The only thing I've found is drinking A LOT of water!!

It's not fun, but try a fleet enema - for me, it usually doesn't matter what I put in if nothing is coming out... sorry, TMI! Once things can flow more freely, definitely have something like bran cereal in the AM, and a stool softener at night, and eat as much fiber/drink as much water as you can during the day.

Also, try a strong cup of coffee first thing in the morning (regular, not decaf) - that may help to get things going. Remember, your intestines are not in their usual spot, and they need help when they're so squished by the twins!

i have this issue too!! it's more hormonal than the baby squishing things around. I have found helpful fibercon tablets, eating prunes, drinking prune juice, Gerber makes apple prune juice look in the baby food section, Fiber One has a cereal with flakes and oat clusters, its really not too bad, eat lots of fruits, grapes, apples etc.

    Good Luck

I had major constipation issues. Milk of magnesia worked WONDERS for me! I took it at bedtime then by morning I was good to go (pardon the pun!) Good luck, it's a tough side affect of pregnancy!

I haven't had the issue yet but I have been taking Benefiber since early on in my pregnancy. It completely dissolves in any non-carbonated liquid. You can also add it to things like spaghetti sauce or soup without even noticing it's there.
Fruits like pears, apricots and prunes can also help. The Fiber One cereal bars are really good. The caramel are my favorite! There is a good amount of fiber in one bar and they are as sweet as any dessert out there!
I hope you feel better soon!!!

I had horrible constipation early on in my pregnancy and my WONDERFUL doctor suggested I take a magnesium supplement. If you have a natural health food store near you RUN and buy a product called Mama Calm. It is a powder that you mix into warm water and drink before bedtime. I tried EVERYTHING before this and nothing worked at all. Follow the directions on the bottle by gradually increasing the dose. I took my first dose at bedtime and the next morning was able to go! I took it through my whole pregnancy and NEVER had a problem again. Also helps you sleep well! And it's all natural and good for you and babies!

Same problem here - until my midwife recommended flax seeds. You can also get flax seed oil and just use it instead of olive/vegetable oil on your salads. I put the seeds in my cereal every day and it worked wonders. Also, I noticed that some veggies make me gassy (cucumbers), so I experimented with that (sorry if TMI)...

I also had horrible constipation issues while I was pregnant. I tried about everything I could think of, so I finally asked my doctor who told me it was safe to drink some Miralax during pregnancy. That got me going every time!

    Good luck!!
