Lauren has been really, really constipated lately. We are on whole milk and also with the transition to all table food, she is really backed up. Her poop (when she does) is pea size and so hard that I think it would bounce if I threw it. :icon_eek: Is there anything I can do to help her. We have tried prune juice, which is like pulling teeth to get her to drink it. I have also used Karo syrup for a few days now, any other suggestions?

    Thanks!!

Try high fiber foods. Some of the stuff that helps keep my girls regular (they struggle with it too) is oatmeal, corn, apples, raisins. My girls do get a little Glycolax (miralax - powder fiber you mix in their drink or food) if the food route isn't working. You might want to ask your pedi about it.

A warm bath, pear juice, apple juice, syrup from light canned fruit, corn, and raisins will sometimes get stuff moving. If she's always constipated then definitely talk to your pedi.

Mine are on all table food too, but for constipation we use baby food prunes. Works within an hour and for the rest of the day they "clear out". We give them a jar of prunes once a week to keep them regular. Just make it a day when you won't be travelling too far from home. :)

I'm told that grapes are a big poop-provoker. Apple juice is too (but not applesauce -- for some mysterious reason, that has the opposite effect).

At Kelly's (Snittens) suggestion, we also mix wheat germ into Sarah's yogurt because she tends to get stopped up.

And if nothing really works, FWIW, it seems to get better with age, as their systems get more used to table foods. Sarah had those pellet poops most of the time from about 12-16 months, but now hardly ever does.

Raisins always get my guys going within a few hours... somehow it stimulates their systems I guess... good luck!

Mine have always been constipated. We have a daily breakfast or oatmeal mixed with Karo syrup and baby food prunes and pear juice. This helps keep things from getting too bad.

Brandy, you can mix the prune juice with apple juice. Tastes much better. Also try oatmeal cookies with frosting on them. THEY LOVE THEM!

You can also try raisins and prunes. Kids think they taste like candy.
