I drink the Walmart Fiber Therapy. Nothing.

Last night I had to make an emerency call to the Dr. because I have been throwing up for the pass 4 days keeping nothing down.

The Dr. told me to take Dulcolax (suppositories and I did it worked but my intestines are so sore.

I was giong to take another one today.

But has anyone ever use this before.

I heard or other people talk about Milk of magnesia.

I thought that wasnt safe during pregnancy.

Please comment on what works for you. I also heard coffee helps can someone help me.

I will never go that long again.

    Thanks

I have taken the Dulcolax and it has worked for me. I also eat prunes everyday, drink 3 liters of water everyday and get exercise.

If I were you, if you are vomitting, it is time to go to the hospital. Your body is full of food from both ends and it has no where to go but out your mouth.

You need more help than taking a dulcolax that has apparently not worked one dose for you.

I got Milk of Mag when I was in the hospital on bedrest, so I am pretty sure it is safe but you should probably talk to your Dr just in case. Also, be careful when it is time to go that you are not pushing too hard! Good Luck! I hope things get moving soon!!

I don't know if this will help you today - but perhaps going forward. I each a bowl of raisin bran every day for breakfast...and sometimes when I don't feel like cooking for dinner too!

So far at 33 weeks and on mega dose of calcium to counteract my blood thinners imact on bones I have not had any problems.

Good luck - I know it can be hugely uncomfortable.

You can also pop one PLAIN Colace tablet each day (per my high-risk OB). It's a stool softener...just make sure you don't get the Colace with laxative. I didn't take her advice and have had 2 horrible incidents...the most recent one was Tuesday. I sat there for almost 1/2 hour trying to go, feeling like I was going to die. I was seriously waiting for a foot to pop out, I had to push so bad!
When I finally went, I bled for a couple of hours afterwards.
I hope you find something that brings you some relief!!

yeah i believe colace is approved for pregnancy and i have taken it in the past, before pregnancy, and it DOES work. it takes a couple of days but it will flush out everything and anything that's "backed up".

keep in mind with the colace though (if you choose this method) it will crap up your belly pretty bad right before it works. when i would take it for constipation it would cramp me up so badly i felt nauseated but then in about an hour i went to the bathroom and felt MUCH better.

fortunately for me i have had anxiety throughout this pregnancy (so far) and with anxiety, for me, comes diareha...i know TMI but hey almost everything about pregnancy is TMI :D

good luck and i hope something works soon!!!!

did the doctor call something into the pharmacy for you to make you not nauseated and to stop throwing up? if they did and you are taking those they have a well known side effect of constipation. if you are an anti-nausea medicine try stopping that to see if you can use the bathroom.

but a stool softener is going to be your best bet for relief.

Oh, that was the worst part for me. I can't stand the texture of prunes, but prune juice is alright. I like dried apricots and those have lots of fiber, too. A cup of hot tea in the morning usually gets things moving, too. I've been taking a stool softener as well. It's the generic colace. There was something like a $10 difference. I checked with the pharmacist to make sure it was safe and was the same thing. Getting plenty of water...way more than I want to drink...has also helped. I hope something works out for you soon.

I was also going to say colace, it is a wonder and you don't cramp from it. Keep in mind nothing you take is going to work right away since it has been so long, my longest has been 2 weeks and I was MISERABLE! I am with pp to say go to the hospital, they may need to do something that is fast acting. Good luck sweetheart, constipation is horrible!

I would definitely speak with your doctor. There could be a few things going on:

    1) if you're vomiting, you're losing fluid so that will impact the ability to go. you may need some supplemental fluids
    2) if you've been constipated for a long period of time, you can get backed up at a higher part of the colon which can be difficult to pass

For me, I like to add ground flax seed to breakfast a few days a week which seems to help me.

Colace is also a good idea as it's not a laxative but just a softener.

    Good Luck!

As pp mentioned Colace is a "stool softener" and not a laxative. When I was pg I made sure I went everyday (didn't want hemmroids). So if I didn't poop that day I took a Colace that night. Also here are the things that BIND you up (make you constipated) and things that get you going.....

Binding: Rice, cheese, BANANAS are really bad, apples and apple sauce.

Things to get you going: PEAR JUICE is better than prune juice and tastes better !!, peaches, pineapple, plums, prunes, pears, (the "P" fruit), squash, apple juice (has more pectin than apple sauce and will get things going), raisins,

This list will also help you when you have your babies. Drink lots of water too

go to the hospital, it's time for some help...and you need to add a stool softner to your diet everyday. and move around as much as you can...loosen that stuff up! good luck!

I hope by now that things are better for you. I understand how you feel, and it will get better. I had a similar problem - threw up so often that it was hard to keep liquids down and eating anything (let alone more fiber) wasn't a possibility. Through my struggle, it probably took 2 weeks to resolve. Per my doctor, I tried the suppositories to no avail. He eventually said to do a Fleets enema which took care of the immediate problem. He put me on Colace twice per day (once in the a.m. and once in the p.m.) and emphasized I needed to get enough liquids. I couldn't keep water or ginger ale down very well, but found I could drink tea mixed with lemonade. Sometimes it is still a struggle, but I have not had another week like that one. Now that i can eat more things, i include grapes, salads, apples and Fiber One bars in my daily meals. Best wishes for feeling better soon!

I have been there and it sucks!! I did milk of magnesia before bed and that helped alot. I couldn't eat bananas or drink protein shakes (like boost or ensure) because of the high iron/fiber content. I hope you're doing better. I know constipation during pregnancy is really awful! Good luck!

I never took Omega 3 vitamins with my first pregnancy and then I was advised to take them with this pregnancy. I've never in my life been more regular. I'm blaming the vitamins for the blessing. Are you taking any?

Oh goodness, I've been dealing with that so much lately. My Dr said Milk of Mag was fine but not to use it too often. He also said lots of water 1st thing in morning, and of course fiberous foods.

There s a laxative tea out there called Smooth move that I heard works well.

And after 4 1/2 mos of morning sickness so bad I couldnt stand the sight of coffee well after I got to feeling better I had a cup and had one of the best bowel movements of my life- No kidding!!! And everytime since then!

I;d try the coffee too!!! And the Omega 3's!!!
