    Hi,

My DS has been having trouble passing his stool. I just started cereal, he was fine with rice cereal. but i just started oat day before yesterday. I prepare it with 1tsp prune paste 1 scoop formula spoon of cereal with 2 ounce of formula. it did the same with oat cereal but he has been constaped. I see the stool but it is hard for him to pass it since the stool is so hard. i tried corn syrup also in 1 oz of warm water with 1 tsp of corn syrup, but it has not helped. He :( cries in pain and has cuts around his anus area from pushing. I feel so helpless. I finally gave him a glycerin suppository but its not suggested with the pediatrician. it also didn't help much he passed only a little bit . what do i do ?

Do you know anything that helps with constipation that i can give him at home that helps.

We had "issues" too. Our ped said to do 1/2 ounce pear juice to 1/2 ounce water up to 3 times a day. That seemed to work for us. What did your Ped say to do?

I have always used corn syrup and water or a suppository. The corn syrup takes about 12-24 hours to work and the suppository a few hours. When did you try all of this?? My twins have always had constipation, it's genetic I believe <_< and it isn't easy watching your little ones hurt so much

I feed straight prune baby food when needed. Hope he feels better soon!

 I'd call the pedi and see what s/he suggests. Maybe add a little more water to the formula he drinks, warm bath, tummy massage, helping him if he is struggling to poop (not pleasant, but might help).

If it had already sat in we did prune juice in their bottles and warm baths. To keep it from happening they got prune baby food (about 1/3 of a container) each night with their "dinner". Once we started doing that we didn't have many more problems.

I know i was in tears watching him in pain :( i feel so helpless in this. The pediatrician said to use corn syrup i put prune paste in their cereal. I started this yesterday it was 2nd day of oatmeal cereal which i think i will stay with rice since they were fine the week of rice cereal. Suppository i did yesterday too he did a little bit but not much. Doc sugg not to use suppository but he was in so much pain i said hell with it. But i don't want to make it a habit of supp since babies have a hard time learning how to push stool out, he was in so much pain i couldn't see him in pain. I didn;t know that corn syrup takes that long. thank you for that info :) i am such a lame mother :(
