OMG....HELP! I'm about to go INSANE! Of course DH is out of town for a few days too :(

My guys are CONSTANTLY fussy for the last few days. I cannot for the life of me get them to settle down for anything and obviously I can really only tend to one at a time. I've tried everything...feeding, holding, rotating through every toy, swing, etc. They MUST be teething or something, I've even tried the orajel. NOTHING works. They don't have a temperature, I've bundled them up....They've even had two naps today but still, they won't stop.
Do you ever have these days or are mine just grumpy babies. I am at a loss:( UGH...............what do I do?

Sounds like teething. Can you try rubbingg a cold washcloth on thrir gums? Maybe a littl;e tylonol before bed?
    Good luck!

actually I heard oral gel can make things worse for a teething baby, makes their gums hard. I heard it only good once the tooth has broken through.

Try teething tablets, they could just be pre-teething. Relax, they will feed off your stress :D

You are doing great, especially for having to tackle this alone. Don't get overwhelmed.

Oh, I was just thinking of what I used to do when DH was gone adn the babies were totally crazy. I would litterally plan my day out in 15-30 minute intervals. It was a way for me to cope mentally. Get out inthe stroller/car ride, invite a freind or family member over for help, sing, take a shower (put them inthe cribm even if they are crying, they'll be safe), turn on some music and dance with them, white noise. My girls always liked to be naked (don't forget to put a towek under them! ;) ), give them a bath, lay down with them, let them watch a ceiling fan, have a glass of whine  ... ok, just trying to suggest some distractions. When does DH get home?

Teething tablets by Hylands are wonderful. A bit of Tylenol would do wonders as well if it is teeth. Does a bath help them to relax?

that's a good idea...I would totally take them for a walk in the stroller but it's cold and rainy here...they love the stroller. Maybe I'll take them to the mall tomorrow and walk around. DH gets home very early Wed morning....not soon enough!

I will have to get those...they are ok with baths, maybe I'll try that.

I'm right with you! My daughter has done nothing but cry and whine for a week now. It's driving me crazy. The weather stinks where I'm at also so I actually put them in the stroller in the house and went for a walk in my living room, dining room and kitchen! That's how desperate I was getting this weekend! I hope you get some relief soon.

Hey there, just read your post about the teething/fussing. What worked for my older two children (who are 4 and 5 years old) :

Dont do Tylenol, is isnt long lasting. Try Baby Motrin, which is ibuprofen and an anti inflammatory and pain reliever and lasts for 8 hours I believe.

Do the Baby Motrin, put the dropper in their mouths, dribble it in and then blow in their face....it takes their breath away, makes them close their mouths and BINGO! They instantly swallow :)

In conjunction with the Baby Motrin, go buy some Hylands Homeopathic Teething Tablets. You can get them at Walmart, BRU or from www.vitacost.com (which is where I buy all my natural/organic health/beauty products and baby bath stuff, great prices, great customer service!).

Anyway, the teething tablets really work. There is an ingredient that sounds like "caffeine", it is NOT caffeine, so dont worry about it. I consulted our Naturopathic Doctor about the ingredient because some of my girlfirends said they heard there was caffeine in them....not true at all. The tablets are these tiny little dots, place them on their tongue, the max dose I recommend for fussiness.....they dissolve immediately. Dont be freaked out about putting two or three tablets on their tongue, they will just dissappear quickly. (blow in their face again, that helps or plug in a pacifier right after placing the tablets on their tongues)

SO~ that is what worked for us when our older two were teething and it really hepled. Hope you dont mind me offering my advice from what has worked for us! :)

    Have a great day xojillian

One of our boys has been like this lately. I don't really have any suggestions other than what pp have mentioned, but I feel the pain! GL till your hubby gets back.

That's funny, my SO was just commenting on this yesterday about the caffeine. You seem to know alot about this, we don't put the tablets on their tongue, we've been desolving them in their formula. Does that not give the same effect?

My DD is the same way!! It's driving me crazy. She even cries in her sleep, and unless I am holding her she is crying. I think she is teething...I just hope the tooth comes through soon. No advice here either...I just hope it gets better for the both of us soon!

As far as the Hylands Teething Tablets......the directions say to pour the tablets/dosage into the cap and then pour them into the baby's mouth. Touching them with your fingers contaminates them and I guess (or I interpret that) it makes them less effective.

We have used the Hylands Homeopathic Colic Tablets for when Maeve is really fussy....especially in those early weeks when she was TONS of fun fussing! :)

Good luck Melissa and everyone, may everyone have a sleep FILLED night! xojillian
